I was across from this place before the Live on Penn show with TMBG and F.O.W. and we were wondering what the hell was going on – there were all kinds of HFS signs and banners, definite rocker and roadie types milling about looking important, and from inside I was quite afraid that it was all happening at Hooters. Turns out it's this skate shop/studio, and Evanescence had just played an in-store (with HFS broadcasting from the store).

Studio 819
Sunday, August 8, 2004; Page M02
It's a marriage made in alternative heaven: Penn Quarter's Asylum Wake Skate Snow has joined forces with 99.1 HFS to bring Tony Hawk-worthy shopping and live punk jam sessions together in a single tricked-out space. And the performers who've played the TRL-esque Studio 819 are so far no small fry: Evanescence, 311 and New Found Glory have all appeared. In true rock-star fashion, schedules aren't set until a few days before showtime, so check the board outside the store or tune in to the radio for dates and times.
O.A.R. plays Wednesday afternoon. Check www.whfs.com or www.asylumwakeskatenow.com
