Bono Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

feckin hell. i love the man, i love the band, always have, always will, but the nobel prize?

That is absolutely ridiculous. Awful, even.

well, at least he didn't bribe his way for the nomination. kim dae jung, south korea's ex-pres, basically bought his nobel peace prize by paying off north korean officials for the now tainted reunification meeting in 2000.

okay, bono is one of the more annoying hypocrite/celebrity activists out there. he reminds me of 'california uber alles'.<P>but the nobel peace prizes have a history of selecting laughable laureates. willem de clerk, henry kissinger, yasser arafat (and i'm pro-palestinian) have no business being recognized for their efforts towards the good of humanity. lech walesa, mother theresa, ml king, okay, great choices. bono has done sweet fuck all except for carefully arranged self-serving publicity junkets. this year there should be no winner and the prize awarded to the general fund, since we won't see anything resembling peace any time soon.

And he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.<P>He has reduced the debt in third world nations over $100 Billion. The Nobel Peace Proze is the least they could give him for his tireless efforts. <P>

More like tireless self-promoting efforts. I doubt he cut a check for $100B. And, arguing with our secretary of the treasury while on what was essentially a safari hardly counts.<P>That said, if Arafat and Il Jong are eligible, I guess everyone is.

Boy? You must be kidding.

Most of us have full time jobs. Some of us even go to school on top of that. Bono does not have a full time job. He's a rock musician successful enough to cut a record and make millions off of it.
