it's my party

Hoping that Cooper Temple Clause comes on this side of the Atlantic soon and that you scoop them up Seth. Thanks for the consideration.
BTW, we like inside stories. Feel free to post away.
[This message has been edited by Jaguar (edited 03-05-2002).]
Twas The Night O'Radiohead
so here's how I remember it…
while I generally hate going to shows that aren't mine (think of being in your house, but you're not allowed to touch anything) I decided to suck it up and go to the Tibetan RFK show for the sole purpose of seeing Kraftwerk. that was too much to resist.
of course, lightning struck and all hell broke loose, which I heard about on the way there and turned around.
being that the previous night we had a Red Hot Chili Peppers warmup show at the club, and there were all sorts of luminaries from the oncoming Tibet weekend hanging about, I had had an unavoidable all-nighter (I was younger then) and was actually relieved to just get some carry out and go home and recuperate.
on the way to Rocklands for that comfort food fix, the cell phone rang.
to be continued…
[This message has been edited by Seth Hurwitz (edited 03-06-2002).]
I think it's cool Seth is writing in here! If only all business owners could connect.
This Radiohead shiat is from years ago, not last summer.
Sitting around bummed with friends after taking the metro home from rfk.
Listening to HFS as all hopes went away.
Driving up to Baltimore to see the dismemberment plan play…but still tuned in to hfs with small hopes.
the announcement.
TURNING THE CAR AROUND AND RACING TOWARDS 9:30 WITH TICKET STUB IN HAND.
Stipe, Pulp, Radiohead. Yes.
At least they played an extended soundcheck last summer…
my friends and i were also heading home that night, then turned the car around once HFS announced Radiohead. then they announced when we were 5 minutes from the city that you had to be 21 to get in. i was very sad (i was 18 at the time), especially since i missed michael stipe. some people say you didn't have to be 21 but oh well. i was just glad to see the Tibet show both days. got a great spot for R.E.M. the next day
<kiss ass mode on>
welcome back seth! the forum lost a little of its magic when you left. with all the sepculation that goes on about the concert promotion biz, its nice to have an authoritative voice posting once in awhile. kinda like the belle & sebstain manager posting on the matador records board about ticket prices. your milk analogy is priceless btw
[This message has been edited by kosmo (edited 03-06-2002).]
yea kosmo, why is milk so expensive these days?
Just kidding.
goddamn I am digging this new Cornershop disc
i'm glad to hear some positive impressions of cornershop's latest. personally, i was bored with their last album, i've heard tjinder singh has been involved in a few amazing collaborations so i had him going off on his own. glad to hear their sticking together because their live energy is special.
seth, come join us over at the lambchop thread and give us your thoughts on mars volta who should be booking for the summer soon - i hope.
You again situtu,
someone said that Cornershop at 9.30 was one of the worst gigs they had seen and the lead SInger would not make eye contact or acknowledge the audience at all…
Still I liked the first album.
c'mon
give the guy a break. stagefright is quite common. even clarence (Citizen Cope) battled it for quite some time. special translated as transcending - not engaging.
I like their new (I think) single. Can't remember the name exactly but it has Rocky in the title.
first a right, and now an uppercut
tricky doesn't exactly make eye contact. still, his tour in support of maxinquaye was amazing. isn't it cool of seth that he let tricky smoke up on stage? no need to discuss what tricky's done lately though.
Blowback
I like it. Is that so wrong?
one thing i will not do and that's put down (anymore than i may have already) someone's taste or music. i'm not sure who said it, but they said it best… it's all good if someone feels something when they hear it.
i have blowback and can tolerate a few tracks. but if someone says it's their "grace," i can respect that.
Ow come on thats very spoil sport. A bit of Mudslinging now and again helps to clear the air….
You havent got a problem with Cyndi Lauper have you?
Situtu said he was a Teacher, Markie. Just give him or her a couple more years. No doubt s/he'll change his/her tune! That is, unless s/he works in some Utopian system…which I doubt! Before you know it, s/he (?) will be joining Rhett and I at slinging something or other! (Probably students, Principals and politicians.) BTW Situtu, are you a male or a female? Just want to know so we can make this typing easier.
Perhaps gender is an offensive question,
perhaps Kline-Felter is in the house?
Actually I cant remember how to spell it, just think Jamie Lee Curtis…
Okay, you lost me there Markie. Apparently, I didn't see that movie. Or are you talking about that Jamie Lee Curtis gender question?

[This message has been edited by Jaguar (edited 03-06-2002).]
