I disagree, Stewart is not just a smart ass. He comes off as intelligent and well-reasoned. Maher is just a smart ass.
Jon Stewart on Crossfire
He seems to be holding up rather well given the recent incarceration of his mother…

I worked at Crossfire in 1989. ….Don't ask, I was young. It was the political equivalent of professional wrestling then. It still is now.
If you go to Crossfire for news, you won't find any. You might find any. You might hear a good partisan riff or two. That's about it, cuz its theater.
John Stewart's show is theater, too, but its SUPPOSED TO BE. Therein lies the difference. Do I wish he'd skewer all sides equally? Yes, but only because he'd avoid the partisan yammering.

Marr is neither reasoned nor intelligent. Stewart show, Like Crossfire, is meant to entertainingly present the news. How many people actually get there news (as a first source) from Crossfire? Its not intended to be the first stop for "fair and balanced" news…like say FOX's actual news broadcasts. Stewart should lighten up. His criticism is well taken though, I mean he's one of what 10 people nationally who watch the damn show. They'd be well served by keeping Stewart happy.
Marr is nothing without Morrissey.
And vice versa.
And vice versa.

BOO SMITHS!! YEAH KILLS!!!
So, speaking of the Smiths, I had the most lovely night at the Blue Room last night, completely enveloped by the comforting, warbly tones of Morrissey. Though it was sad that it was the last night for the Medusa/Strange night at Blue, what a way to go. Luckily I was near the back of the newly designed 2nd floor bar, as I crooned nearly every word to most of the songs. Bliss, I tell you, bliss.
Thanks DJ Medusa and DJ Strange!!!
