i am there, right up front, between lulu and kurosawa. there's enough pretty band boys to go around. i mean, they're both really great bands.
Elefant, Ambulance Ltd Roll Call
So let me get this straight. She's visiting Lulu and going to the show to watch Diego. What benefits are you reaping?

Might be there…I generally don't do shows at the black cat but I'm willing to give it a shot for Ambulance LTD. I can't get into Elefant at all…especially after seeing them open for Interpol. Lose the rockstar ego.

diego is so very, very pretty………..
I enjoyed the performance (whihc it is - half music, half Diego's ego, but the musicianship is great) and would kill to see this double-billing.
does anyone know what time ambulance will go on?
I would just like to say again how excited I am for this show.
And I would guess that Ambulance will go on sometime between 9:30 and 10. But you'd better check with the Black Cat on that.

I'm excited too! And I'd say, if you want to catch Ambulance, get to the club by 9:30…
Nope…apparently not going…the wife can't bring herself to give Elefant any money… :p

Nothing other than the fact that they didn't impress much when we saw them. From what I remember, their songs sound like they would be improved by a different singer. Also, they were one of those bands, at least to me, that sounded better in the studio than live.

Aug. 16th - Washington D.C.
@ Black Cat
9:30pm - Elkland
10:30pm- Ambulance LTD
11:30pm- Elefant
All Ages
$10
I'm skeptical of those set times…the doors are 8:30, and the Cat doesn't usually have an hour before the first band goes on. At least, I hope it's wrong – 11:30 headliner on a school night, and a Monday no less, is rough.
-edit- Just looked at that website, and they do have different and very specific times for each show. Damn… So what's Elkland like?

I'm listening to the MP3 posted on their site. I don't know about Pet Shop Boys, but I hear New Order influences. It's very upbeat and dancey, but it didn't grab me right away.
But yeah, tonight Ambulance will be the headliner for me since I'll depart after their set. I'm going to another show tomorrow night will be a wreck as it is.
Anyone coming to this who has the new Burning Brides? Can't decide if it's a show I should hit…don't know 'em.

I feel differently than Random Citizen about the albums, I think the first album is weak but sounds great live and the new one is great.
I've tended to hear that the new album is better, or I should say preferred… I'd love to hear it. Now if only there were *something* I could exchange, but I think you have me beat every way upside and down in the old music dept.

Yes, that is true, Markie. I have that ONE Barry Manilow greatest hits CD I got for free (with a concert tee, that I find hysterical and admit to loving)…you got me. Pollard, I'm happy to bring a copy for you if you're interested…
