Modest Mouse, Bjork - NO DC DATES??

Hey fatso, I don't think the enthusiasm of the crowd has anything to do with it.. The band itself has little to do with the booking when they get as big as these acts are. They just go which way they tour manager points them, and that's usually toward where they can make the most money. And if there's not a right sized venue offering the right sized paycheck, they'll skip your town.

If I were a big name act I would skip over DC too. The crowds at DC shows are completely dead. Take a look around the 9:30 club during your next show and you would think by the look of everyone that the music hasnt even started yet.
Right but if I played NYC and Philly where the crowds actually get into it and then play DC where its just a bunch of zombie like hipsters there for the scene not moving an inch while I play I would make sure I never revisited this city ever again.

The only good thing about Bjork is watching her beat the crap out of that reporter in Bangkok. Fucking weirdo.
I just can't stop laughing at this. :D

Maybe that's because it gets so incredibly crowded that people can barely move, much less dance.
I agree with that. A sold out show at the 9:30 club is god awful

and i wouldnt doubt Bjork being there too

beats the fuckin killers and RHCP ANY DAY!!!
The Killers, yeah. I'll agree with you on that. (In all fairness the show they put on was better than I thought it would be, but they kinda annoy me.) The Peppers though, FUCK no. Modest Mouse is a cool band and all, but the Peppers catalog blows their shit out the water. What Anthony Kiedis lacks in sensical lyrics (LOL) he makes up for in stage presence & charisma (goes a LONG way in music.) And I don't think you can honestly tell me that their band is better than Flea, Frusciante, & Chad Smith. Even though Modest Mouse has Johhny Marr now. ("How Soon Is Now?" is 6 plus minutes of GENIUS)

P.S. I have yet to hear a Modest Mouse album better than Californication.
You make it sounds like a football game.

Is there any more hackneyed complaint than this?

Every city has a contingent of self-loathing douchebags who wistfully pine for those paradisiacal "other" cities where all the scenesters are righteous. DC just suffers from a surfeit of these insecure dolts.
On the Bjork announcement, it does look like she's going to add more dates later.

As far as Modest Mouse goes, that was a suprise to me. I was actually looking forward to seeing them finally get through their songs instead of standing around the Black Cat pretending to be a band like last time (about 7 years ago).
And furthermore, how many of these dance purists actually move more than just head-bobbing, foot-tapping and gentle swaying? I'd guess about 5% if that.

HAHAHAHA
Modest Mouse's album debuted at #1 on the Billboard album charts beating the Shins' #2 and Arcade Fire's #2 debuts. Indie is the new mainstream, right?
What's with all the Bjork hate?

She's 1000% original, innovative, and forward thinking with her music. I love LOVE love her. And with that being said, I'll be getting my tickets tomorrow morning for Denver and 2 of the NY shows.

Who else is in?
i hate dance nazis … i don't have to fucking dance if i don't want to!!!

have you ever been anywhere else? do you really think this is unique to DC?
Considering that the tour dates only go up until May, with that Spanish June date, I'd bet that Modest Mouse will be around some more in the summer and fall.
Sometime in early August I would think
oOoOoOoOo ;)
