OK, lets be honest here. You're not fooling anyone and we can see this coming from a mile away.
9:30 Club Website Cool Music Fan Rule #132:
If you really and sincerely want to see a band thats reached mainstream popularity but you are afraid to deal with the harassment from the diehard/indie/hipster folks, don't fret, here's what you do: "Obtain" the ticket for free. Say you won the tickets from a local radio station. Say a co-worker gave them to you as a gift. Or maybe some friend gave them to you because he couldn't make it. Forget making some dough on E-Bay. You HAVE to go right? Can't let anyone down or be disrespectful! Here's an example I saw on this site before:
"Went to the Stones show last night. Got free tickets from work. I mean, the Strokes were opening. They weren't bad."
Yea, of course, you went because someone loves you enough to give you a pair of 200 dollar tickets for nothing. And the inconvenience of crappy stadium seating and poor sound is worth it to see the Strokes from 4 miles away. Whatever.
Just admit it. You'll feel better. You like Green Day. I don't care. We all come out of the closet for at least one band.

Don't believe him PigIron! Sonick "borrowed" this excuss, sort of, from Mankie who took his daughter to see Green Day. Sonick just added on the "won tickets" part. :p

Um-hmm. CLASSIC example of cool-guy-who-wants-to-go-see-an-MTV-band-but-needs-an-excuse.
I'm gonna go see Hoobastank next week. It sucks but my grandmother won tickets off HFS and wants me to take my little cousin, who can't go alone because he's too young.

Well, I've heard from some folks I respect music-wise that the new Green Day album is really good. I think the show would be a blast, and I'm…envious, sonick, not quite jealous. Enjoy.
Hey, I bought Dookie after hearing "Longview" on the radio just twice (wow, I forgot I used to listen to the radio), and I don't regret buying it one bit.
Have fun…too bad it's at Patriot Center, but what the hell.

enjoy the first 30 minutes of the show… in past experience they play a nice rockin set of tunes, then the potty mouth antics begin and i start looking at my watch. hey their greatest hits disc is off the chain…

thanks for the warning
besides, its kinda cool, those tickets were $40 a piece, which is absurd. but for free, the "rhett entertainment value" of the show goes up immensely.
and its halloween….I'll go as a punk rawker!

i saw green day for the first time on the "dookie" tour and while the show was disappointing the event surrounding the show weren't
first off it was seeing all the minivans driving in to downtown detroit from the suburbs. many probably for the first time ever. one person even asked for directions to cobo hall, which they had just driven past.
the warmup act was the pansy division which sent the primarily teenage boy audience into a frenzy of how dare you question my sexuality rage. the highlight was the cover of "lets pretend we're married"
but the capper of the evening was seeing someone's mom frantically searching the floor for thier kid. wild eyed and clearily paniced.

Cleaning up after the stars:
For his day job, Damron is a production manager at two music venues in Portland. â??What I basically do is hospitalityâ??get artists their deli trays, their beer, and take care of them,â? he explains. The biggest pains-in-the ass heâ??s come across so far? Damron singles out Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss (â??Just very rude. Talked down to you, almost like you didnâ??t even exist.â?) and the hordes of postâ??Green Day new punk bands. â??I donâ??t think they really had to work for what theyâ??ve got, so they donâ??t really care. Itâ??s kind of like, â??Letâ??s see how big a rock star we can be and see how bad we can fuck up the rooms.â?? And then some asshole like me has to come clean it up.â?
