The Hold Steady roll call

Did anyone else think 'Seperation Sunday' was one of the most lyrically inventive and invigorating albums of last year? Or was that just the smack talking? Anyone else plan on being there (and being high?)
or Separation Sunday, as some call it
I'll be there
I'll be there, not high.

Will be my first show in two months. Pretty amazing, and it's kind of like giving up booze for Lent – I'm pretty stoked I was able to do it!

I probably need to get that album, eh?
I'm so bummed I'm missing this one. :(
I plan on going. Definitely not high. Not that I'm opposed, but this is drinkin' music…
I've just been listening to the mp3s on their site…really good stuff. Which album is their best?
any chance this will sell out? I am planning on being there…..Chaz - I can gmail you some more mp3s if you like
Is there a standout track that I should hear? I listened to a few songs online from the new album, and I wasn't that impressed. Am I missing something here?

"Banging Camp" and "How a Resurrection Really Feels" were my favorites off Separation Sunday. "The Swish" from their first album.

hmmm, I personally love 'Youe Little Hoodrat friend" which is widely available as a free download

I also like Steve Nix and Chicago seemed tired last night and a few others

it aint gonna change the world but I love it for its boozy, honky-tonky early Springsteenish vibe…..and hes an interesting lyricist

Yeah man…bring 'em on…you got my address. Thanks!
If you base possibility of a sell out on hits on their Myspace page, no way. The highest a Hold Steady song has is 1400 hits. Meanwhile, The Veronicas have had over 50,000 hits.

May say as much about the demographic of the respective fan bases, though.
Present and accounted for…I'll be there and i'm pretty sure this is my first show of '06.
am dragging a little after DJing last night but will try to be there
i'll be there, and when i arrive, i'll be ripping high…
I'll be there. I love both "Separation Sunday" and "Almost Killed Me" (favs: Your Little Hoodrat Friend, Certain Songs, How a Ressurection Really Feels, The Swish, Most People Are DJs). The band rocks unapologetically and unironically and the lyrics are really great - I especially appreciate the shared characters, situations and themes between the albums. However, I can understand some people not getting into because of his style of talk-singing and cock-rockery.
Reasons enough for Mark Kozelek to do a Hold Steady covers album.
the hold steady are no lifter puller ;)
This show was great…wish I'd caught their Backstage shows, but tonight I had great sight lines and room to bounce, so it's all good. Every once in a while Craig Finn gets a little too BRUCE in his singing, but a really good, energetic, fun, rockin' show. yeah. good way to break my slump (last show I saw was X – awesome bookends to a slump!).

My question –who's from Tampa?? Ybor City is in one song off each album that I've caught so far.
yup, a good show - glad I went
