I haven't been this excited about a trip to the record store since…maybe ever. Hopefully I can find somewhere sellling these at midnight on Monday! :)
8/24 releases
I bet there's a few other things on that list that get interest. Maybe a little:
uhh, the new gbv album comes out that day too. . .i'm most excited about that.

Two more stellar (well early reviews say they are) albums come out the same day: Tift Merritt's new one on Lost Highway, and the Sadies new one on YepRoc.

They were hyping it big when I was up in Toronto last week (guess it got an earlier release up there). But then again, Toronto is their hometown. They were also making a big fuss about the new Hidden Cameras album…also from Toronto.

Oh, and the Wicker Park soundtrack looks awesome and is out on tuesday as well. Including the Postal Service covering Phil Collins "take a look at me now"… which I am very very excited about.

I'm listening to that cover now, and it's pretty terrible. I never thought I would say this, but this has me missing Phil Collins. And I like the Postal Service and Death Cab, but man, sometimes Gibbard just sounds too faggy.

The expanded version of Jeff Buckley's Grace also comes out on Tuesday. It includes a previously unreleased track, "Forget Her" and a bonus DVD. I will be purchasing it while cursing Mary Guibert.

I think they finished their show at the Black Cat with this, it was some cheesy cover, it was the worst part of the show by far

Only 3 more days until the Fall music harvest! :D
Good call on this Rhett - just another one to pick up - I'm all about efficient record store trips:
Here's what the press has to say about Tambourine (by Tift Merritt) so far:
"File this one smack in between Lucinda's Car Wheels on A Gravel Road and
Shelby's I Am Shelby Lynne–Very cool album!" - Rita Houston, WFUV/NYC
"Merritt's voice is a magical combination of cool reserve and effortless
warmthâ?¦" A- - Entertainment Weekly
"Strike the posers this month, reality music returnsâ?¦Producer George Drakoulias
brings Tift Merritt's fantastic voice up front in the sparkling Tambourine."-
Vanity Fair
"â?¦Stax-style R&B tunes complete with slinky horns and sultry background singers.
If you're picturing Dusty Springfield fronting Creedence Clearwater Revival,
you're rightâ?¦" - Esquire
"â?¦Tambourine (Lost Highway), comes close to realizing Merritt's musical ideal:
the melodic longing of Carole King, the honest ache of Dusty Springfield, and
the lived-in dynamics of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends." - Harp Magazine
"Her new guitar-tinged soul songs sound as if they came right out of the Stax
Records catalog." - NY Daily News

I listened to a few cuts off of an advance copy of this one. I liked her first album alot, but this one strikes me as a blatant grab at mainstream success, upon first listen. She shore do look cute in the photo on the cover though.
