In Philly they just moved the show from a sold-out TLA to the Electric Factory. Plus it's on a Friday now, in case anyone wants to come up. It's May 11th.

They moved the date, too? Electric Factory holds what? 3000?

Wait. It gets better.
I received an email this morning saying:
Amy Winehouse scheduled at Theatre of the Living Arts on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at 8:00pm, has been rescheduled and changed to a new venue.
The event will now take place at the Electric Factory, located between 6th and 7th on Callowhill and Spring Garden St. in PA on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 8:00pm.
However, that's now wrong. It's been moved again to the day before. Saturday, the 5th of May. Not the 11th. A venue change and two date changes in a matter of hours!
You can't stop Amy Winehouse, you can only hope to contain her.

Sad or funny I can't determine. The night before SXSW music started I saw Amy Winehouse in NYC and it was a decent but not great show. She was dressed nicely and seemed only partially buzzed, and sang her ass (what's left of it) off.
The next day in Austin I was walking towards a venue on 6th street and this rail thin crack whore looking chick stumbled out of a sandwich shop with this huge black dude and I was thinking geez this chick has gone out of her way to look like Amy W. even has similiar tats and a beehive wig.
The first double take I thought it was a guy in drag, then she basically screamed at the black guy (who I now realize was a body guard) that she wanted a pint "NOW!" and she wasn't going "any phuckin place" until she had one. So the second double take it was unmistakenly her, and people were staring at her like she was an alien.
The night before in bowery I wasn't THAT far back but she looked so awful in comparison and I felt pretty sick about the whole scene. It was like hearing the screech of tires before impact, and you grimace yet you can't look away.
There was a guy panhandling that probably slept the night before outside that shop, and he looked like he'd been at a spa in comparison to her. In fact I think she scared the hell out him.
A great talent, but I fear is going to have a very sad ending.

I am hoping we might get a suprise gig like when Lily came back for a 2nd time.
i saw Amy yesterday on Later…With Jools Holland and she was just AWFUL. i mean, i suppose her CD is ok but she just looks bad..and after watching this performance, i dont get why anyone actually likes her.
Have you listened to either of her cd's in their entirety?

I found/find her whole drunk schtick to be tiresome, cynical and totally calculated. That said, Back to Black has become a serious guilty pleasure, and I've probably listened to it a hundred times in the last 2 weeks.
Last Friday, I was in New Orleans at a fairly crowded bar playing pool. I programmed the jukebox to play the whole album, and about a dozen people came up at various times while it was playing asking, who is this?

I like that her voice has that smoky gin joint sound to it. It's not polished like so many studio record singers that are out right now.
Just so you know, not everyone who doesn't dance is a hipster. I for one come to listen to the music and possibly sing along. I didn't know dancing was a requirement.

I sent in my ticket for a refund last week, today I get an email saying that my tickets cant be honored because they dont match the date of May 6th @ the Theater of Living Arts.
SOOOOOOOO apparently, the date change hasnt caught up with their systems yet.
