The Social Distortion draught may be coming to a close: The band has booked time to record a new album.

The band will enter an unnamed Los Angeles studio next month to record the follow-up to 1996's White Light, White Heat, White Trash. The band has not revealed a release date, nor confirmed if Epic Records will handle the new album.

The trip into the studio will be the first for Social Distortion since guitarist Dennis Danell's death in 2000. Jonny "2 Bags" Wickersham replaced the guitarist, who died of a brain anyuerism.

ABOUT TIME!!! They've been playing new songs like "Don't Take Me For Granted" for a few years now, and the last time I saw them (June of 2002 in Chicago), their drummer Charlie told me they were getting anxious to finish up the record, which they had been working on. So it's good to hear that they're finally going to do it. This has been one long stretch…it will be 8 years since their last proper LP of new songs by the time the new one comes out. Of course, Live at the Roxy was one hell of a record, maybe my favorite Social D record. I can't wait…that is one terrific band.

That album has been in the works for at least 5 years, and I've heard these rumors for years.

It was originally slated for 1999, pushed back understandably for Dennis' death and then nearly taken off the table afterwards. It's good to see that Ness is trying again, but I'll believe it when they get to the Studio. They're still playing gigs all over the west coast (I saw them last month at Slim's in SF) and until they stop playing live and get in the studio, this record ain't gonna happen. They Did the Boom Boom Huck Jam last year instead of going into the studio.

I do know this, the problem is not Epic Records - Time Bomb recordings has been willing to do this album for years (they did Ness's solo stuff)…

On another note, Live at the Roxy is "Sick Boy" away from my top 3 albums of all time. How do you leave that song off the track list?
