I'll give emusic its due when appropriate. I downloaded Deadboy and the Elephantmen off of emusic about a month ago after reading about the Iota show on here. I saw them Saturday night and it was maybe the best show I have seen in a couple of years.

Question – any idea how the artists are compensated when an album is bought via eMusic versus retail?

As you might imagine, I'm downloading Keene's album, but I want the man to succeed!!

i'm not sure about how much the labels get per download as it's not going to be very much… in the past matador has stated although they make pennies via eMusic, but it's better to get something instead of nothing when people download illegaly. of a late labels are staying with eMusic because of the buzz it can create. think of it as being able to preview the cd at a low cost, with the option to buy it from him later directly at a show where he is likely to make the most money on the sale.

You know me so well. I would, but I can't – I planned a reunion with friends in Chicago, and that includes one chap coming in from Dusseldorf. Even I see the relative importance of 15-year friendships versus my power pop heroes. ;)

I was thinking that it's shame eMusic dosen't have better group options, they have lists, friends, and neighbors. But it would be nice to be able to create a group of people on eMusic like last.fm…

I downloaded The Hard Tomorrows last night, haven't listened yet.

As I mentioned in another thread, all of Ivy's albums are available. Inevitably I have them all, but cool to see.

I actually got Dane Cook's comedy album. I figure for what I'm actually paying, it's kinda off my beaten path for just a few bucks. I was dying laughing at his routine over his "dream house."

Dragcity Records with Pavement, Silver Jews, Smog and Joanne Newsome justed added to eMusic.

So how many other eMusic subscribers are finding they have to much to choose from when downloading. I watch the new addition over the month and add to my many playlists what looks good and decide all at once what to get. This last month I ended up going with a couple last minute choices found while checking out the charts etc. Which of course means yet another five or so albums I'll never get around to downloading in the future. Even got a booster pack because I wanted download the Girl Talk cd this month.
