Sketches was a poor follow up with a few good songs on it, the best one imo being Morning Theft. Granted, it wasn't a fully realized album, but still.

Yeah, but thank god he never go to release that Bee Gees tribute album he was working on.

And thank god he didn't stick around as long as fucking Bright Eyes. That would be unbearable.

well, who knows how good sketches would have been? most artists write 20-40 songs for an album and whittle it down, y'know? half of those are probably ditties he put together with zero thought in 5 minutes. some sure as hell sound like it.

True enough! That aside, I think Grace is an excellent album. However, I played it so much throughout college that I can't really listen to it anymore.
