The boys over at Bigyawn don't seem to mention the music that is on PBS, so here's one I found in the tv Guide:
Sonice Youth and Wilco on Soundstage 8 PM WHUT Wed.

Did anyone else experience technical problems last night while watching this? A few times during Wilco's set my tv screen sputtered and then went gray and then went back to the show. This happen to anyone else?

I taped it last night, but haven't watched it yet. I'll let you know tomorrow if it was a national thing or a DC thing.

As much as I've bitched about Wilco's turn for the worse, the performance was pretty good (except for the two songs off of Ghost). Sonic Youth, on the other hand, were just annoying. I guess I'm just getting old.
Especially good was "When the Roses Bloom Again", which they had intended to include on the Mermaid Avenue albums until they found out that the lyrics were actually written by the Carter Family and not Woody Guthrie. Tweedy ended up giving the song to Laura Cantrell, who did a nice job with it on her 2002 album. Interesting to hear Wilco to do it as a sort of shuffle.

when the roses bloom again is one of my favorites…jeff played it live at his 9:30 solo gig back in 2001 (i think??). pretty pretty.
sonic youth annoys me anymore too…i keep thinking it's the age factor for me also but that doesn't really hold true since i dig a lot of the newer noise rock bands. i saw sonic youth a couple of years ago and it just bored me to tears. i went to the noise against facism thing on inauguration day and wasn't very impressed with that either.

Finally watched my tape of it yesterday. Can someone explain why this music is called "no depression"? Why so glum, chum?
