Jens Lekman same night. Should be 100 million times better than Annie Lennox. :)
now i can bitch
now i can never bitch about any of them. i wonder if neil young knows that stubhubb had five sets of orch seats to his dar show for 300 - 500 dollars before they even went on the first pre-sale this morning from his o wn website? i give up. nothing better than seeing "there are no tickets available" the moment they go on sale. what's the point of going on sale?
Neil Young don't care. He's sitting in his California mansion having a laugh about it all. He's probably got a cut on those stubhub tickets.

I somewhat recently *ahem* "met" a nice young lady that works for TicketMaster, & after feeding her some Grey Goose & other liquid afro-disiacs she actually told me the truth about what really happens to killer tickets at shows. Most of which I knew, but 1 or 2 things which really fucked my head up. Bad.

But I say all that to say this. The decline of the music biz, not happenstance I assure you, happened to coincide with the emergence of the Internet. This is directly proportional to the steep rise in concert tickets prices in the past 5 years or so. ANYthing which proves lucrative WILL over time be corrupted. Especially when said pecuniary opportunity is run across on a reactive as opposed to proactive basis. Basically anyone with a computer, free time, some saavy, & knowledge of on-sales can for all intensive purposes become a ticket broker. To the point that now (remember when I said REactive as opposed to PROactive?) even TicketMaster themselves have resorted to scalping under the guise of "Ticket Exchanges & Auctions". I laugh. Ha. So more or less, pony up to stay on the wagon or hop off & get the fuck out the way. Less tickets are out there for you, & the prices are going up. It's not changing any time soon & the best case scenario you can hope for is a plateau in pricing at this point. Especially with the record climate what it is today, bands are making a lion's share of their money on the road & through merch. But with record companies' bottom line being affected worse than ever, the labels are now even asking for a cut of tour money (I repeat. REactive as opposed to PROactive.) It is what it is . . .
Wrong again. Artists usually aren't even involved. It's the tour managers who are making those back door/under the table deals. Trust me. I could do a dissertation on this shit. See above post ^^^^^^ . . . .

I think this calls for a Congressional investigation, as they are setting a bad example for the youth of America.

Not to shit on your rant or anything, but I tried for the Annie tickets this morning and managed to get a pair of 10th row on the left. Just saying… [/QUOTE
there were plenty of right and left orch available . . . but not a single, front section center. they started the sale at row e left, or at aa center (which is middle orch). so your shit is not smelly at all. i was just bitching because, for 115 each, i wanted a halfway good seat that wasn't against the far left or right side. i like to bitch sometimes. i am bitch sometimes. but i worship great seats all the time.
I just got an email telling me about Annie Lennox in Miami and was just thinking how much I'd like to see her but Miami is nearly 2 hours away. Now I know how much the tickets are she can fuck off.

Dirty Little Secret #1: The Van Halen Tour
The first 15 rows (depending on the venue up to twenty-something) on the floor of this tour aren't really effectively even available to the general public price wise. Base price for floors shows on Ticket Master/Live Nation as around $149, give or take $20 depending on the city. (NYC, Chi, LA, Vegas, etc. are always more than other cities.) Now if those seats aren't available, one asks where the fuck did they go??? Good question, fam. Here's your answer . . .
Instead of a laissez faire  type deal, here's what pops off. For the robust price of anywhere from $495 - $795 depending on your city(that's per ticket BTW), one can purchase what is referred to as the 4 star Van Halen package. Which includes 1 seat SOMEWHERE (they don't tell you until the day of the show) in the 1st 20 rows. Oh, and they're nice enough to give you a Van Halen key chain/T-shirt, Van Halen test tube or some shit of that nature. But that package sounds a lil' fishy, right???? Glad you asked. That's why there's a 5 star package. For the conservative pricing of $750 - $1000. Per ticket of course. This includes:
A reserved seat inside the ramp! (Somewhere, as they don't tell you until the day of the show)Van Halen 5 Star souvenir laminate!
Backstage tour!
Pre-show party!
Exclusive Van Halen gift bag!
Crowd-free merchandise shopping! (A wait-free line so you can spend MORE money)
Parking (where available)
You will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability.
And absolutely NO GUARANTEE of meeting the band.
So one may ask. If the 1st 20 rows got blocked off, how about the other 6 letters of alphabet???Glad you asked. Those go to the wonderful folks at Ticket Master. The last 6 or so rows (depending on the venue/city maybe less) go to the "auction" which is designed to "give you the comsumer a value on premium seating". i.e. Read: Scalpers/Brokers are getting their cut & we want some too. And of course, people are so gassed up by the prospect of a Van Halen reunion w/ Diamond Dave, that seats in the teens to 20 some rows back on the floor are getting sold by Ticket Master for about $390 - upwards of a yard ($1K) a pop. Then throw in the fact that Citibank is a sponsor on the tour, & if you use one of their cards, then you get 1st crack at the lower bowl seats right by the stage. 2 sections each side of the stage to be exact. Meaning Joe & Jill fan's best seats in the lower bowl on the primary market start realistically in damn near the middle of the arena. Nostalgia's lucrative than a bitch, huh???
Oh, and no. Those prices and/or tickets do not include anal lube and/or Vaseline.

good lord and gravy biscuits; i just read an article about this billy ray cyrus daughter and the phenom. she is creating. ticketscalpers set new records for resell prices of her tickets (one went for $2500.00!). people are "finally taking notice and getting fed up with the way the ticket industry is ripping off the consumer." priceless. go moms.

 board. 1st rule of show biz: There's NO such thing as bad publicity. There's a parent in Potomac or Vienna pulling out the Black Card to ante at at least $300 a pop for little Amber & her homegirls to hit Verizon for a good time as we speak. It all goes hand in hand. If they weren't about greasing their pockets, they could easily pull those tickets & issue refunds. Tom Petty & U2 have recent DOCUMENTED instances of doing so of actually going through eBay/Stubhub (which by the way, as of recently are the same company - see what I said earlier - REactive not PROactive???) & pulling those tickets back & making them available to the public again.
As far as the Van Halen, I don't think it's dirty at all. It's just big business. I dealt with that years ago. I'm about as good as it gets (ask about me) when it comes to getting killer floor seats at a show. When Van Halen went on sale for D.C., the best seats I pulled up were right of the stage Sect. 113 & 114 about 10 - 15 rows back. I tossed that shit back. I have other avenues I can use to get seats face or less. The general public does not though, which all ties into the underlying theme of BIG BUSINESS, baby. American culture is predicated upon tossing nice amounts of cake towards having a good time. (Myself included.) Have some friends over to watch a fight/game or your favorite Morrissey DVD???? Not without an HD bigscreen. Party at the club for your birthday???? Not without a limo or poppin' some triple digit bottles. Party at a bar/restaurant for drinks & good times???? Not without a triple digit bar tab. Wanna see your favorite group live after a 20 year hiatus???? Not without paying triple digits. Nosebleeds or floors, cause after you catch that high from the show & shake off those chicken tenders & 2 Millers you bought you're GONNA want a T-shirt. Right????? Boom. Soon as you walk out towards the Red Line/your car, you just tossed a Benjamin towards the gate & the merch gross. It's all big business. Some people live in a fantasy world (like these dumb ass Hannah Montana parents who probably didn't blink when they paid $100 to see Bruce or a couple hundred to see The Stones when they dropped their Amber & Chase off at Aunt Mildred's house but now they wanna bitch). I'm just laying it all out for people, that's all. The truth hit me a while ago . . . .

Scalping
Please note that New York law prohibits the resale of tickets within one thousand five hundred feet from Madison Square Garden. In addition, New York law prohibits the sale of tickets to events at the Theater at Madison Square Garden for more than 20% above the price printed on the face of the ticket and prohibits the sale of tickets to events at the Arena for more than 45% above the price printed on the face of this ticket. Unlawful resale can be punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.

I can tell you for gospel fact that Police & Van Halen seats at MSG floor go for NO less than $600. And that's a daydream figure. Online killer rows are going for $1500, so day of at the venue a $1K at a minimum. They want that Park Avenue money, baby!

plus the firm has a raffle system and gives away a good chunk of the tickets. i am curious if its the same seat for everything - because we have tix for EVERY event at MSG.
