Best support band!

You all knew it was coming didn't you! :D
Cranberries opened for The The at Lisner….this was quite a while before they became big, I said to my mate, "I bet we see a lot of these in the future"…having said that I don't care for them much, but they were a great support band.
The Beat (English Beat) Opened for Bowie at Milton Keynes Bowl…had the whole stadium dancing away, yes, even ME!
Corner Shop opened for Oasis at Patriot Center…I probably enjoyed them more than Oasis actually, because the crowd was boring for Liam and the lads so they couldn't get into the mood.
Julia Darling opened for Crash Test Dummies (I think) Writes her own stuff - good musician - total babalicous…what's not to like?

Mother Superior opening for Rollins Band.
Essentially, the band was opening for itself.

I'd have to save the Burning Brides opening for Division of Laura Lee. Of course, I was there for them over DoLL anyway, but still…

Oh ok a few years before I got here. It just sounded like the same oasis routine for every show.

Beastie Boys opening for PiL - Warner Theater sometime in 86 or 87. Just before "Licensed To Ill" came out. The crowd had no idea what to make of them. The closest thing they had to a hit at the time was "She's On it" and they didn't even play that.
Camper Van Beethoven opening for REM - 10/24/86 Pittsburgh.
Billy Bragg and Velvet Monkeys opening for Echo and the Bunnymen - Ontario Theater 8/16/86. I think this was one of the very first shows BB played in the states. He was in the lobby afterwards handing out buttons promoting the "Life's a Riot…" EP. The Fleshtones were supposed to play too, but they cancelled.
Iggy Pop opening for the Pretenders - 1/18/87 Penn State.
Midnight Oil opening for UB40 - Yowza.
geez - i'm not even in the 90's yet.

Beasties was 86, that was a great one. The bud bottle into the crotch (a good kick) was the highlight of the show. We were floored by rap with a Zep or Sabbath beat.
Mercury Rev opening for MBV @ Hammerjacks. Was Yerself Is Steam era, and they were crazy.
Von Bondies, they rocked! Their second guitarist was in Slumberparty, wonder if she took out the rock?
Spiritualized, opening for Siouxie in DC. They were great, left 1/2 way through Siouxie's bland set.
Skid Roper and Mojo Nixon opening for Violent Femmes/Pogues at Wolftrap. Just the two of them. Mojo was great, going into the audience with a big water cooler bottle doing Mushroom Maniac.
Weezer opening for Lush (WUST). Before Undone became big, River was out front handing out band stickers after the show.
9353 opening for the Jesus and Mary Chain circa 1986. They were funny, brilliant, and rocked.
