the mtv "soul train" awards

and here i thought rock music existed. i guess rap artists were the only musicians putting out videos in 2004. i did find it hysterical that the viewers choice awards, which is a representation of what the viewers of mtv want to see, had not a single rap video nominated. hmm; interesting.
Did you really expect anything else?…I mean really…
and please don't call me racist. i'm not. i listen to some rap, for some of it can actually be described as music . . . , but to have every category of ever category nothing but a jay-z vs. usher competition was completely ridiculous.

Yea,

I have a friend that is black, so I am not a racist either.

Why even bring up race, are there not shite white rappers too? Has no one forgotten Northern State, I mean the Beastie Boys?
i'm not going to watch it. but might give up in watch it in a couple of months….

i watched dead like me instead. i love that show. Showtime has the best shows. bullshit, dead like me, and jerimiah(luck perry's show…i think)

i also saw a preview for the the new trey parker/matt stone movie. it has action figures so trey can just do voices and doesnt have to attempt to act.

Don't forget Vanilla Ice! Without him we'd be at least a thousand punchlines fewer. :p

I wonder if anyone has ever typed that phrase before?
And of course the worlds best rapper is a cracker, but the worlds greatest golfer is a brotha…so those cancel out I suppose. ;)
"Greatest" and "rapper" are two words I wouldn't use in the same sentence.

Which is exactly why I used the word "best"
i'm not sure if anybody in here but myself watched the thing, but i hung on until the end, because i waited…and waited…for the polyphonic spree to come on. and they were introduced by mar. manson, who couldn't care a less about being there or the poly's at all, so blow him. blow him out mandy moore's douche bag. oh, and i only brought up the race thing because i thought i was going to beat someone to the punch. i've never been sure weather to throw the beastie's into the "rap" world. they play instruments and don't 100% rely on samples and stealing others' music to make their own. plus the beastie boys promote non-violence and intelligence, something which lit' john and the ying-yang twins seem far from grasping beyond their chalices of crap.

Well that is not like an American at all, launching a pre-emptive strike.

yeah, amazing how all these artists travelled through time to hear the original sounds of 'paul's boutique', then went back in time and incorporated it into their music:

"Hoo-ha! Got them all in check." - "8th Wonder" by The Sugarhill Gang
"It's the Joint" - song of same title by Funky 4+1
"Shake Your Rump-ah" - from the Unity album by James Brown and Afrika Bambaataa
'Scratch' heard under "the most packinest", "your belief, chief" and at the end - "Could you be Loved" by Bob Marley
Additional beats from "Super Mellow" by Paul Humphrey from the album "The Drum Suite"
Afrika Bambaataa's, "Jazzy Sensation"
After the chorus phrase "Shake Your Rump-a" there is a drum break with synth. The first two runthroughs, right before the rap starts again, the concluding drum fill is from "Good Time Bad Times" by Led Zepplin.
Beat is Harvey Scales's "Dancing Room Only" (from the lp hotfoot: a funque dizco opera, casablanca, 1977)
Bong hit
Mostly taken from the "Car Wash" soundtrack by Rose Royce
Ronnie Laws, "Tell Me Something Good"
the disco call is from Foxy's "Get Off"
The main drum roll is from "Funky Snakefoot" by Alphonze Mouzon from the album "Funky Snakefoot"

and this is only off track 2.

…and I admire their positive attitudes towards ladies….."Girls, all I really want is girls, to do the dishes, and clean the bathrooms…blah blah blah"
wow…, lic. to ill; an album that just came out by the beastie boys and represents what they are today. hopefully they'll follow it up next summer with that "paul's boutique" i've been hearing about.
