Punk Rock Genius
Is she really punk rock. Something about having an MBA and punk rock doesn't quite mix. Congrats to her, but I don't think she's punk rock.

In my experiences it seems nonconformists tend to question things more and are in general more intellectually stimulated than your average Joe on the block. Most of my school friends were original 70's punks (spiked hair, wild clothes ,the whole 9 yds.)and they managed to graduate college and be successful. I don't think intelligence is a disqualification for punk rock status, it's more about perspective and oulook on things in general IMHO.Props to her for doing it her way, just like Frank and Sid.

I guess the MBA part of it is what seems un-punk rock, not the premature matriculation itself. On the other hand, if you're a punk, getting a Masters in Business Administration would be *very* nonconformist according to the rules of most "punk" peer groups. On the other hand, nobody is a real punk rocker in 2006.
Finally check out Paul Weller saying way back in 1978 that punk rock is nothing but a media construct on the "Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder (available on Netflix).

if this is a piling on for people who get an mba, then let me join in. however, if this is simply saying that getting higher degrees in general is not punk rock, then, obviously, greg graffin is totally not punk rock.
I don't know if getting an MBA makes you a genius or un-punk, but from her picture, it clearly makes you a homely dweeb.
Clearly it's the effect of Mountain Dew.
Rhett, why do you always have to belittle people because of the way they look? Ultimately, who really cares? We're born with what we have, and that's all we have to work with. Sure, a paint job, different clothes and a trip to the gym can help, but it's far easier to do a personality makeover. It's never too late to stop being negative.
Were you on the high school cheerleading squad? Your overarching positivity is boring.
I think I tend to be a mix of positive and negative on here, which is the way most people are in real life, when they feel comfortable sharing their real thoughts.
I'm a visual person, like many guys are. When I first see someone, my initial thoughts are based on what a person looks like and how they carry themselves.

I think you are far more negative than positive, especially when it comes to finding and pointing out the shortcomings, tastes, and physical attributes of others. If you find me boring, then just ignore me. It's really just that simple!
I would point out how hot various people are, but I don't think my wife would appreciate that. It's much safer pointing out the ugly people. :)

Yeah dude…you're constantly saying how ugly, fat, bald etc people are. It's pretty funny actually.
Shallow, shallow, shallow.
Too bad we can't all be super buff male supermodels like Mr. Rhett. You should change your username Rhett, Shallow Male Supermodel.

Why would anyone be anything other than shallow on an internet message board?
And why does pointing out what people look like make someone shallow anyway? I'll bet looks are the only thing you notice about 99% of the people you come in contact with yourself.
And let me ask you, did looks play at least a partial role in who you selected as your wife? If so, you're shallow, shallow, shallow.

Wow, that's great. Youtube rocks!
I hope you don't mind me reposting it on Doomlink!
Your mention of No Trend got me wondering about video from the old 930 club, and that turned up this video of the Slickees supposedly filmed there:

I'm not totally convinced, the stage seems the right shape, but bigger than I remember it….

Your argument is what's troubling me right now. When asking why your comment made you shallow, you reasoned with the fact that apparently everyone else acts this way. I'm going to have to say that there are plenty of us on here that don't pay that much attention to that kind of stuff. There's a difference between taking notice of someone's appearence (something which is simply human nature), and using that observation in your judgement/interaction with that person. And as far as I'm concerned, the second one is NOT okay in my book. Whether on an internet message board, or in real life.
Say what you will - I'm the LAST person who is going to try to dissuade anyone from speaking their mind. But just trust me; beautiful people are NOT all they're cracked up to be.

And your argument is so silly…of course looks played a part in me choosing my wife you nimrod.
Maybe you're not shallow, but who really cares. What I do know is very very often you seem to point out how ugly or fat this one or that one is. Just know that you look really silly doing it all the time. MOre power to you though if you want to continue to look like an ass.
