I think they're ok. Their album has a few really good songs, but a few terrible ones also. I'm looking forward to the concert though, should be a good time.

There is a huge pool of bands that sound like 80s retreads. Every week one gets pulled as the new flavor.

Not bad. Basically next generation Libertines. I don't think its nearly as strong or fully formed as Up The Bracket (and the highly enjoyable I Get Along EP). . . but its solid fun nicotine and/or booze post strokes brit rock.

How come it's not listed on the 9:30 site yet?

since the show sold out during it's quiet sale it never got added to the calendar, i'm sure it's just a oversight at this point

four songs into listening to the cd, and they'll be headlining the Warped tour next year… it's not quite punk, metal, emo, tis perfect for the teenagers. rocket from the crypt and rancid even with thier fake accents did it better…

I like the CD too. It's not ground-breaking or new, but it's fun. Plus, I just like their attitude.
They won an award last week, something to do with NME, nationally televised in the U.K. Since they were on tour they couldn't be there in person to accept, so NME sent a crew to tape an acceptance. When it was showed at the awards show, it was actually We Are Scientists impersonating them. Arctic Monkeys said they just wanted to have some fun and are sick of the hype and thought they'd never get away with it anyway, but the crew had no idea they were talking to We Are Scientists and neither did the award show producers since they showed the tape on TV.

the cd is alright, certainly nothing groundbreaking… being ancient and all that it's a been there heard it done better opinion. the slower songs peaked my interest a tad, but can't see how they would play out in a packed club. i wont be running out to buy this one anytime soon, will await it's second expanded re-release.

I still haven't made up my mind about these guys, though I have only heard the EP's. First impression is that they are ok, might grow on me, who knows. The only thing I can think of is that they are Franz Ferdinand at an even faster pace.
I wonder if they would be as instantaneously popular without bands like Franz paving the way a few years before.

I'm curious as to what Tim from Ash's solo record will sound like, given all the attention focused on the Arctic Monkey. Ash was certainly bring metallic sounds to their pop long before AM hit the scene. Tim should show these upstarts how its done right…

I think I know what answer you're looking for, but no, I don't think so. I think it tells them what they already know: NME is stupid.
Artic Monkeys have gotten a lot of press, magazine covers, videos all over the U.K. Also, if I'm not mistaken, We Are Scientists are American and AM have heavy British accents. If NME and their production staff don't recognize them, then they're idiots.
