overall, i try so hard in school to please my parents, and i'm not a bad kid. what bothers me is the fact that i am doing, for them, what they want me to do; yet they won't just let me go to shows. make sense?
Seriously, people treat their kids like babies, overgrown babies is what they'll get.

Um, I'd probably be better off hanging around a crackhouse in the area of the 9:30 club than going out with some of the typical kids at my school. I don't even smoke at shows!!
Dear Betty,
How much rent are you paying to live in that nice house in Bethesda? And how much do you contribute to the grocery bill? If the answer is none, then you are seemingly in a normal parent-child relationship. And in such a relationship, the parent is entitled to make decisions that they see are in your and their best interest and that bring them some peace of mind at 1:30 in the morning. And you, being thankful that they provide you with a nice roof over your head and nice food to eat, should be respectful of the decisions they make. Constantly calling them out for their decisions on internet chat boards is not a sign of respect. Rather than sounding grateful and gracious for all that they do for you, you end up sounding like a whiny JAP. Your insightful input regarding music and other topics is most welcome, but your continued whinyness about your parents has grown…tiresome.
Furthermore, being able to go to shows at rock clubs when you're 15 is not an entitlement. The fact that you're able to do so makes you luckier than 98% of the 15 year olds of the world…most kids that age don't live anywhere near a rock club so it's not even an option. Among those who do, I would imagine a significant percent of them have curfews that would prevent such late night activity. So feel fortunate that your parents have provided you with a life that lets you go to rock clubs at all.
Your pal,
Rhett.

true. but she is 15, that's what 15 year olds do. if they were mature and acted respectful etc at that age then adolescence would be no more or more accurately perhaps such behavior would just be shifted to younger years, only a relative difference. the change in adolesecence is the learning to challenge test ones boundaries and new found abilities. it is only normal. somehwere a kid in afghanistan, let's call him Ali-baba, is bitching to his 'rents about the new rock he found on the roadside he's not allowed to play with b/c it's evil and a symbol of the infidel, and, if he's not careful could get him/her pregnant. it's the same everywhere i would say – just different. luckily we here in the usa/west are materially fortunate enuf to remain children til death. ours is culture of whining babies [so u can hardly blame just her]… "wahhhh i want to buy an suv or 2 or 3 cuz i hav kids and they wont fit in a Taurus wagon bc they r too fat from sitting on their ass 24/7

I guess this is why my wife will be happy to have a baby but not a teenager. :)
And a good parent won't cave in and let the children run the home.

i do; i didn't find it very funny. i would like to ask you all to please not lump me in with every other snobbish kid in bethesda.
went to this show just to see mazarin and sounds of kaleidoscope, but was curious about rogue wave. i found them utterly, terribly boring. i guess they're just not "my thing."
As a former disaffected Bethesda youth, I say rock on, kiddo!
