stars roll call

THANK YOU for the setlist… I was too busy enjoying myself to keep track.

It was an amazing, amazing show. I am sad to hear that they won't be back for a while; hopefully it will not be too long. All of the members were amazing, although Chris looked a little annoyed all night. I also thought it seemed like Amy was a little, umm, out of it… but she was charming, nonetheless.
Yeah I was standing in the back by the soundboard. There was a set list back there so i just made a quick text of it.

Amy looked halfway retarded. That was disappointing.

I was hoping for Sleep Tonight, The Woods, and/or Celebration Guns.
I repeat, stupid sellout…

I was standing in the front, by the speaker. I was actually right in front of the stage, but since it was to the side I still had trouble seeing over other people's shoulders. (I'm short.) Anyhow, I was worried about what would come of the Amy situation, but everything turned out all right. I think she was still adorably charming, despite her state. I would have LOVED Celebration Guns or Sleep Tonight. I was also hoping for Tonight (from Nightsongs), but oh well. I'm just happy I got Life Effect.

Did anyone get any good pictures or, if I'm not hoping for too much, videos? My friend and I brought a camera, but I accidentally left it in the car and couldn't go get it since I am under 21. My camera phone pictures aren't really doing anything for me.

Ditto^infinity. Grrr… I really wanted to go to this show, but it sold out before I got around to going to the Black Cat "box office".
What an excellent show, thanks for the setlist.

I loved the Bruce cover and the love for WSC. That was an excellent show, much more interaction with the audience than when I saw them last, and a really fantastic setlist.
Yeah, I waited too long to get my latest batch of tix. It's a game of chicken with the ticketmaster fees vs. sellout risk. It wasn't listed as sold out when I went but apparently it had been for a few days.

I'm really upset about not having tickets to this show. I've been really digging Stars lately…and First Five Times for the encore?! I would have been blown away…

I'm not sure where the "retarded" look come from. Every time I've seen Amy - whether with Stars, solo, or BSS - she often has the "far off" look. I think she's just really into what she's doing and doesn't really notice too many extraneous things.

As for Celebration Guns, Amy said that the song is about Guantanamo Bay. When asked if they've ever played it live, she said no but continued to say "No, we will. I don't know if I'm ready to embark on it yet. I get very upset. So we choose to do "He Lied About Death", which is along the same political lines, but gets out more of an aggression, a total disgust. I think it's more of an inclusive song. People can dance to it. People can release to it. I don't know if I'm ready for "Celebration Guns" yet.".

As a tangent, here's a link to this weekend's New York Times looooong article on Broken Social Scene.
thanks for the article
I thought it was a great show as well.

But I'm a little puzzled by the people whining about the sellout…I'm pretty sure tickets were on sale for at least a month before it sold out. I got mine at the box office a couple weeks after they went on sale with no problem. True, the Washington Post doesn't talk about shows until the week before they happen, but I thought "true fans" weren't dependent on mainstream media clusterf*cks to determine which bands they want to see.

I understand complaining about shows that sell out in an hour or whatever, but come on…like you can't be responsible for checking the website once a MONTH to see if there are any upcoming shows you want to go to?

Likewise with the Arctic Monkeys - those tickets were on sale for-EVER and listed in several 930 emails before they sold out.
Oh, I take full responsibility for missing the boat. I saw the tickets for sale but was waiting to get them in person. Alas, my black cat show drought lasted too long and I didn't end up making it in time. Had I been a true fan rather than a "heard good things so I think I'll go" fan, I would've made a special trip.

On a more positive note, when I finally did make it to black cat for my next batch of tickets, I was able to buy 4 shows worth with the big bags of spare change I'd just exchanged at the bank. It was therapeutic.

Nice to know they may be playing "Celebration Guns" eventually… I would really love to hear that. I think it's one of their most lyrically brilliant songs.
