Rain, flooding and BRMC

They would post it on the front page under "Today is" – where they currently show the set times.
does anyone know if the taxis are doubling their fares like they do in snow? i would have to take a cab to and from the show because metro is shut down. but if its ging to be $15 because of double fares each way, i don't think i'll go tonight. not because i can't afford it, but its the principal that my taxi fare is twice the cost of a ticket!

This is probably a dumb question, but I can't find the answer anywhere on the site… what time does the back bar open? Is it any earlier than the door time?
the backbar opens when the club opens. tonight, that would be 7:30.
Lily, read your email. ;)

Things do NOT look good at all. Bridges and roads already shut down and loads of accidents.

We're on the NE side of the eye which is the most violent side of a hurricane. They're expecting 63-70 MPH winds just in Baltimore. Should be more in DC as it's right in the path of the eye. Crap!
By the time BRMC finishes, how is the weather going to be? I'm coming from College Park, a little hesitant since my car is not the greatest and I certainly do not want it to die or anything like that!
Some gusty wind just passed by, it's really sacrying me now. Don't think I want to risk my life for BRMC… Any thoughts?
jag, got your email. let me know what you decide. not much going on in dc. some minor rain and a few wind gusts.
Does anyone know what the refund policy will be?

Even if they do play, it will be nearly impossible for some people to go to the show because of the weather/metro shutdown.
I don't think they do any refunds. It'd be so much better if they can just cancel it and reschedule it!

Will it be better if I try to drive home immediately after the show ends or hang around until the club closes then drive back to Maryland?
Okay, so who is still planning on going to this show? I want to go but am beginning to feel like it may not be worth it. It could be much fun though short of a major catastrophy. What are you thinking?
i have absolutely no intention of leaving my apartment tonight…………

call me a woos if you want i don't care……….i'm actually looking forward to watching the wind and the rain from the best place in the world……………………..

bed!!!!
Don't blame you Lulu! That's the best way to enjoy it. At least you have a husband to entertain you. Make him put his bondage pants on for you. :D …..for a little while.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like it's going to get pretty bad in several hours. It has only just started to hit. Just saw that they will be closing some roads down in Laural which is one of the areas that I'd have to drive through.

Lily, the more I think about it, the more I think that with all of my driving, I'd just be letting myself drive right into a death trap. It's the driving part that scares me to death. The Maryland governor is begging us to stay home. The DC mayor said to "keep your behind inside". Everything is shut down. I've got way too much to go through and can't guarantee my safety. Oh, and my route, I295 has downed trees already in both directions. There are lots there so probably many more yet to fall.

My song for tonight:

Red Eyes And Tears

My assumption is that while it will be a very windy and wet storm, it's nothing that I need to worry about. I'm on Capitol Hill and will be driving over, and anticipate a slow drive but one that will take place without any problems, and will park somewhere that's not under a tree. The show will go on, it will be great, the drive home might take a little longer than usual, and might require a little more caution, but it will take place without incident. Parking will be a bitch, but I'll still be home by midnight, glad to have made the trip.

I'd probably feel differently if I lived in Baltimore or the deep 'burbs of Virginia. Otherwise, I don't think the storm is that big of a deal.
If you go, you're probably better staying until they kick you out at closing time. Just don't get too loaded to drive extra carefully. The worst of the storm should be about midnight, give or take an hour. Best to stay and sit it out.

Damn, I want to be there so bad and have a hurricane party with my friends and BRMC!!! I'd go too if I was only coming from Capital Hill or somewhere within the DC suburbs.
if i lived within walking distance, i'd go. but sadly i don't. what else you going to do tonight? watch constant news interruptions of the rain and wind? b-o-r-i-n-g.

no worries, jag, i completely understand. didn't know about the downed trees. see you soon though at another show!
Anyone going southbound, there's downed trees on both I95 at Rt. 32 and I295. One on I295 northbound too.

Oella, in Howard County, is being evacuated.

My 1st born child will NOT be named Isabel.
When is your child due?

Never, the rate I'm going.
Well, I am incredibly frustrated. At this point, it looks like I am not going to be able to go to the show. Trees are down in my neighborhood, and I can't get through. I am really annoyed with the club for not postponing the show. I don't understand the point of carrying on the show at the height of the storm to what will probably be a half empty club. I have been looking forward to this show for quite some time and to know it is going on anyway just pisses me off. If public transportation is shut down, then the show should be postponed.
