Hal Daddy's (RIP)
Baltimore
Baltimore
Hal Daddy's is no more? Man, nothing beat the allure of seeing grandma bras strung up behind the bar.
Their website was the best; all pictures of woman bearing giant milkjugs at the bar. Classy.
Baltimore rules.

The Stanley Theatre in lovely, downtown Pittsburgh!
Coachella
Valle Giulia, Rome
Gaston Hall, Georgetown
The Warfield, SF
Aragon Ballroom, Chicago
I just find the architecture of the Aragon fascinating…the turrets make you feel like you're in Casablanca, and the twinkling lights on the ceiling look like stars. I think it's a great place. And the Warfield seems to have a special vibe to it.

i'm gonna have to say Coachella as well.
although having been at nightclubs and raves for many years, many a night i have seen "venues" transformed into way better venues.

I think the music hall at Strathmore is gorgeous.

The Warner Theater right here in DC is very nice - especially compared to what it looked like before the renovations.

Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, MO. Drove across the country to see the last get up kids show ever this past July - had the time of my life. The venue was gorgeous, and i felt like it was more suitable for an opera or a high-class broadway show than a rock concert. had a seated balcony, and fantastic design/artwork/etc. def. the best looking venue i've ever been to.
Radio City Music Hall. It has elevator addendants who don't just push the buttons for you, but actually operate the elevator!
Worst? Soldier Field. It doesn't have a horrible sound system, but since its renovations it looks like three different stadium designs thrown together.

The Derby in LA where they film the swing dancing scenes in Swingers is one of the nicest clubs I've ever been in. It's hard to believe that during the 70s they actually covered up it's ceiling. There was a ballroom in DC that would have been very nice if they ever restored it. It had a sprung floor like the Commorode Ballroom…
