Other options for Fri. night:
Telograph/Cedars (yea! See you there Fico)/, Soft Complex at Iota (www.iotaclubandcafe.com)
Justin Jones at the Velvet Lounge (www.velvetloungedc.com)
Anthony Fiacco and the Echoes at JamminJava (which now has a hard-liquor license; and a remodeled interior which really opens up the stage area and improved the acoustics. (www.jamminjava.com)
but with all due respect to the above artists, I'd be at radiohead too…I tried. I really, really, tried. (SOB!)
it's their last show ever (supposedly).
and no…i always get frustrated when i see kids with X's on their hands giggling and sipping beers on the floor (which i actually only saw once). god, at least go down the street or something!

When I was a kid, we skipped the beer and just shot up in the alley behind the club, or in one of the shooting galleries in the tenement building next door!

I'd rather be seeing Radiohead. Why, oh, why couldn't they have played Merriweather?!
Anyway, I'll be at Twilight Singers as well….

I'm surprised more aren't mentioning this show! (also, that it's not sold out)
If TS wasn't happening, I'd be interested in the Iota show.

Twilight Singers
I don't love the new album, but the Afghan Whig shows of yore (especially the one in the mid-90s at the old Black Cat) were so chaotic that it's always worth giving Greg Dulli some of your precious time.

You might want to inform Chad that the Beauty Pill webpage seems to have disappeared.
Not that it's been updated in over a year.

that's cool you got a guy from aloha working on your record … i have their "here comes everyone" LP, and i think it really complements your sound nicely, looking forward to hearing what you guys put together

Cedars, Cedars, Cedars…Iota. Tonight.
I promise not to sing too loudly when you play Fleets! Even tho we won't hear the new stuff, someone near and dear (nope, not anyone's mommy) told me the whole new CD is consistently GREAT!

the reviews for the Twilight Singers are in so here is my belated comments on the Capitol City vs Charm City show at the Blackcat.
The Heavycoats cancelled at the last minute which is a shame because their reverb soaked 80s sound would have been worth checking out.
The Hard Tomorrows need to get a great booking agent, a reliable van and hit the road. Nothing groundbreaking here just great songwriting and onstage presence and touring at this point will be the best way for them to get their name out. I'm really diggin their EP at the moment..
Two If By Sea were OK, decent performance would probably work better if caught on tape in a studio with a good producer. Lead singer looks like Iggy Pop's lost child.
The Bonapartes closed the night and because it was the bands last ever show not the most ideal way to see a band live. The material off their EP shows they had the potential to go on to bigger and better things. However, it was pretty clear why the band was splitting up. The new material was lackluster, cringe worthy and in need of lots of work. Some of the band members were going through the motions and ready to call it a day. The audience didn't seem to care that the show was the bands last either.
