among like 3 people on this board. I bet we could find 3 people to say any number of bands suck live…some after not even staying for the show!!!

Nothing earth-shattering. Just fun rock'n roll.

Here's a show review from Chromewaves

And, like every other self-respecting major-label band masquerading as an indie, they are on myspace

And I think Charlotte is fairly attractive for a Brit.
What no love for Two if By Sea, Asobi Seksu at DC9 on March 8th? You can't all have tickets to Clap your hands or Cloud Room. Oddly enough, both bands we nearly had play DC9 last year. Guess we missed the boat.

High Dials with Burnside Project and TBA on April 9th is a bigger show that could draw a ton of folks, or not, as it is a Sunday. But we're obviously hoping for a ton…
Nah, the people with taste will be at the High Strung show. ;)

hey fico - its at DC9. see you there maybe? i traded emails with your guys' manager earlier today, actually, about maybe doing an iota set in april/may.
3/7 mogwai @ sonar
3/10 pogues @ 930

3/11-3/22 - IRELAND TRIP (what a way to 'pre-game' with the pogues show heh)
I've gotta say, lists of what shows people you don't know are going to makes for some pretty boring reading. Anyone agree?
Please not another choice on March 8th. I went to something like 2 shows in 4 months, and now there are 4 on one night. Unacceptable.

I keep expecting the High Dials to show up on a Black Cat or 9:30 undercard, but I guess their last 2 shows at Velvet Lounge really weren't that packed. Maybe the buzz-factor on this one will push them over…

Especially when they're almost all the same.

Kinda like this…
Coldplay
B&S
Arctic Monkeys
Glenn Tilbrook
Not necessarily. I may not know them, but if I see overlap in our ticket buying there's a good chance I'll want to check out the bands on their list I haven't heard of.

I think the father is the money behind the place, and the brothers run it. Still, I didn't really see a reason to add themselves to the mix. Maybe other than the fact that the last time High Strung played there, it was sparsely attended.

ugh. Why did the Brindley Brothers have to be added to the High Strung/Capital Years lineup. With an 8 pm start time and a 11 pm curfew, that probably means a short set by the headliner?
They're the house band.

Doesn't pere Brindley own Jammin' Java?
Actually there are three brothers (two in the band) who have stake and claim in the joint. Dad is not…he just fills in at the door from time to time.
No, the headliner will not have a shorter set. Generally headliners will go on at 9 (even with two openers). I'll double-check set times if they have them at this juncture.

3/15 National @ bc
3/18 Matt Pond PA @ 9:30 (maybe)

I keep reading that there's a High Dials date getting kicked around as well, so I'll be there whenever they land. I will also try to see B&S/New Pornos and the Arctic Monkeys if I can get in.
See…I had High Dials in my calendar for DC9 on 3/23…mess up on my part I guess.
According to their calendar: http://www.thehighdials.com/shows.htm
April 9 @ DC9
(April is becoming a huge month too)
SXSW is taking my time and moohlah, thus skipping many shows here.
I will miss National. :(
I will try to make it back for John Doe @ Iota. Hoping it won't be too crowded so I can get in…

3/8 CYHSY tickets - I might put the tickets up for grabs and roll the dice at SXSW. (Although, High Strung is also at SXSW).
Tentative:
Garrison Starr @ Iota 3/5
Kathleen Edwards @ Birchmere 3/29
Stereolab @ 9:30
Artic Monkeys @ 9:30 (I'm outta the loop - is this sold out? Off to look…)

I'm assuming this is at DC9? I LOVE TBA…..

Nope, I love it. I suppose I know enough people to be interested, but I think if's fascinating to see a full month's slate of shows for a person. How their preferences dictate the overall calendar.
