'tis the season

I have nothing against the Pogues, but I prefer the Stars' version of "Fairytale of New York".

I'll second Joni Mitchell's "River". My all-time favorite Christmastime song.

Another great (and very underrated) Christmas song is a Timbuk 3 song called "All I Want for Christmas Is World Peace" that was initially released on an IRS Records Christmas compilation. Jackson Browne and Bruce Cockburn did a great cover of it in a live performance that showed up on BitTorrent a couple years ago under a compilation torrent named "Santa's Boots."

There are some songs that are sacred and should never be covered….Fairy Tale Of New York is one of those songs.
I most look forward to hearing . . .

John Lennon - Happy Xmas
Keith Richards - Run Run Rudolph

And I like Mariah Carey's video for All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Spent last christmas (i gave you my heart) eve at the Hard Rock in Vegas with my bretheren left-handed jews (I think we made up 80% of the casino - other than the absolutely miserable staff who all wanted to be home) and they played the same 10 or so songs on continuous loop (Wham, Elton, McCartney, Mellencamp, Lennon, Richards, Jovi, Waitresses, Run-DMC, a few others) which I heard for like 15 hours of the day. That was like a wicked psychological test . . . that I failed.
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues
Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi Trio
All I Want for Christmas - Daffy Duck
harry conick jr - harry for the holidays
Old Navy Christmas - Hi-Fi Holiday
and i love donny hathoways "this christmas"
I think I have a new favorite:

Gunther - Christmast Song

I have been challenged to find a worse Christmas Video - it's hard to compete when Midgets show up at the 2:30 mark - simply over the top.
Chris Rea - Driving home for Christmas
