Reading and Lollapalooza organisers team up for new bash

The Vineland Festival kicks off next year
8 minutes ago

The people behind the Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury festivals have set up a new bash in north America.

Festival Republic have teamed up with C3 Presents (who set up the Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals) to create the Vineland Music Festival, which will take place in New Jersey between August 8 and 10 next year.

It's promised that The Vineland Music Festival will be a "weekend of pure unadulterated rock'n'roll pleasure; the signature stamp of Reading and Leeds, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza".

The organisers added there will be "a heady mix of the greatest bands in the world, energy charged sets; new rising stars and the freshest acts hitting the stages before the press have had a sniff of them".

The bash will take place on a site with acres of "lush, green campgrounds".

NEW JERSEY!

Best case scenario?: MCR headline.

Worst case scenario?: Springsteen and Bon Jovi headline. But I guess they can't since the promotors are promising the "greatest bands in the world" and "new rising stars and the freshest acts." That would exclude the "Living on my Hair" boys and BRRRRUUUUUUCCCCCEEEE!!!

NJ translation: Superfund site
y'all beat me to it :)

indeed, pre- and post-party at my place. my pad would be a good place to crash the night before and/or the night after the festie (for a few folks, we can't take y'all in).

but let's wait and see the line-up before we get too excited about this. i must admit that the over-the-top mega-marketing promo copy has me weary.
Oh yeah, NJ rules. Is it gonna be held somewhere in Newark? :)

there is nothing "lush and green" about Newark (other than its bar patrons…)
A pox on all your houses.

Have you never read Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning American Pastoral?

Have you never watched the Sopranos?

Newark NJ is holds an esteemed place in the American psyche. viva la garden state!!!

i'm assuming there is a typo in there :p
Hell, I didn't even know New Jersey was a state until a couple of years ago. I just thought it was "the roads you drive from Pennsylvania to the beach."

and julian, did you think that you wouldn't end up on the kitchen table? <wrings hands meniacally>
Nice people always end up on the kitchen table. One way or another.
oh yippie another gathering of bands already on tour with the promise of a couple "surprises", in an environment that less than desirable to some… what's interesting is they are trying to compete with the European festival season so a goodly number of top shelf acts will probably be unavailable.
