February 10, 2004 – THE final episode of "Friends" isn't even in the can yet but they're already casting its spin-off, "Joey."
In the new show, Matt LeBlanc continues his role as Joey Tribbiani, the loveable-but-dim soap actor from "Friends," who moves to Los Angeles to become a star.
The new show has three other main characters, according to the Web site, Filmjerk, which yesterday posted the so-called casting sheets that have been quietly circulating among Hollywood casting agents in recent weeks.
The new characters include:
* Gina: Joey's older sister who is an "attractive hairdresser living in Los Angeles with her son."
She's in her late 30s and is "probably smarter than Joey and blessed with the Tribbiani family's good looks."
She has a way with men, much the same way Joey has with women.
Gina, who's very close to Joey, had a wild youth, but raising her son has grounded her.
* Michael: Gina's 21-year-old son. Another attractive Tribbiani, but he doesn't realize it - and unlike his uncle, Michael is really intelligent, booksmart and street- smart.
He attends grad school at CalTech and despite all he's got going for him, Michael is still a little socially awkward.
* Allison: Joey's new neighbor is described as attractive (but not glamorous), intelligent, self deprecating and in her late 20s or early 30s.
She's stuck in a bad marriage and while she's not the kind of girl Joey usually goes for there's "something palpable between them and they begin to develop a friendship."
Since the show is still in the early stages, the three characters' could be changed.
