Bearman, what are you trying to do to me?!?!? I really wanted to skip this show…but LOOK at that SETLIST.
What did you expect the setlist to look like? A Doors cover show?
Smarty pants – it's unusual to see so much from the first few albums – usually you get one or two of these, not all of 'em:

The Back Of Love
Never Stop
Villiers Terrace
Rescue
The Cutter
Do It Clean
They've been playing Do It Clean almost every night on the current tour, which they haven't played since 2001. That is my fave Echo song, one of my ALL-time favorite songs. The live version blows me away every time. I'm so there, and Bags, you have to come as well!
What exactly does "Do it Clean" mean?
Same thing as the lyrics to "Louie Louie", or "Tutti Frutti". It just sounds good.

Believe it or not, Louie, Louie actually means something. It's an old Jamacian sea shanty about a woman named Louise that the sailor is singing farewell to.
Got a copy of the lyrics?
Louie Louie, oh no
Me gotta go
Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said
Louie Louie, oh baby
Me gotta go

Fine little girl waits for me
Catch a ship across the sea
Sail that ship about, all alone
Never know if I make it home

CHORUS

Three nights and days I sail the sea
Think of girl, constantly
On that ship, I dream she's there
I smell the rose in her hair.

CHORUS

Okay, let's give it to 'em, right now!

GUITAR SOLO

See Jamaica, the moon above
It won't be long, me see me love
Take her in my arms again
Tell her I'll never leave again

CHORUS

Let's take it on outa here now
Let's go!!
Thank you, Chaz. ;)
(But I got the direction he was sailing wrong.)

Many years ago, while in Jamaica I spent some time hanging out with a Bahamian Voodoo priestess and her boyfriend who was originally from Norway but was now living in Jamaica. This man was a sailor and I mean the real deal from the High Seas. Believe me, I know Norwegian accents well and this guy had something totally different. Pure High Seas living mixed with Jamaican patois. Think Popeye with a much, much heavier accent including the use of the word 'me' as it's used in this song. After this experience, that song started becoming much more clear to my ears…except that I don't think that the band even knew all of the correct words and faked it at times too like everyone else. LOL. I know there is a false start at one point. Great song though.

The Cutter and Do It Clean are my faves…oy vey, I'll rest this weekend so I can do Echo and We Are Scientists.
Arghhh!!! I can hardly wait! Might go to Philly as well.
Too bad same night as Calexico…

The only reason I'm picking Calexico is that Echo and the Bunnymen kinda bored me last year…I don't wanna be bored again ;)
brightblack morning light and espers at dc9 will likely be better than echo and the bunnymen and calexico combined. and i like both of those bands! but they are about, oh, 22 and, 7/8 years past their primes, respectively.
