Not to be a jerk on a Friday but if you consider yourself an audiophile who appreciates really great music, than why are you listening to the Foo Fighters?

foos presale + iTunes cd burning question

Or did I just bite on your periodic taking the piss for no logical reason or germane to the issue?

Loyal fans get secret/surprise shows, free downloads, unique merch, etc. These Itune deals, are aimed squarely at Joe Undecided, you my friend aren't the target demo but you get the benefit of their new digital tactics. Though I'll conceed Payola is probably not the appropriate term, it's the first that came to mind when the thought of bribery crossed my mind.

The codes don't come out until right before the tix go on sale and by logic after the dates have been announced.
Originally posted by bnyced0:not quote payola IMO, since that implies one person paying to have other people listen to something… in this case, it's those who are listening who are chosing to pay. i don't blame the artists at all. people have stopped buying albums. rewarding one's most loyal customers is a standard business practice.
I received a share holder missive about the state of itunes, and these pre-sales were touted as boltstering sales X percent and as an incentive to get bonus tracks from artist and entice labels to use ITUNES PLUS. I'm an apple homer, but this is starting to sound like 21st Century payola.

i found out by checking out the front page of ticketmaster.com, i was there to buy tickets for regina spektor. no automated alert/e-mail blast, unfortunately.

Another sign that this is less than loyal fan friendly enterprise is that this just gave the scalpers another avenue to snake good tix from the fans, and they don't have to do anything other than a mouse click.

I do know he just got a new set of speakers that retail for $17,000. He got them used at a bargain for $8,000, but of course one of them needed repairs….

His system sounds great….but not THAT great.
I splurge on the toys a bit too and probably spend more than the average person on audio gear, but my pal has some sort of sickness.

I was going to use an iTunes gift certificate, but it doesn't even charge you…it says your account will be charged when the album is downloaded. I'm pretty sure I don't have a CC on file with Apple. Hope this doesn't f*&^ up.
