good grief what a useless conversation this has turned into. just take it for what it is and stop whining.
This is a discussion board about music, hosted by a live music venue. It's what we do, discuss shows. Okay, we discuss other things as well, but I think it's fair to say the central and largely agreed to mission of the board is for discussion of upcoming and recently seen shows.

sounds good, but you forgot to add: "and how much we hate the bands and their fans"
And then, of course, there's slagging on each other, and SLAGGING on newbies. ;)
i think wilco rocks! and is one of the best live bands i have seen… so lick it! ;)
and a few like the self-appointed chairman of the department of redundant redundancies…snore.
I guess you haven't watched the O.C. and other junky shows of that ilk.

Christ, even mainstream Spin Magazine has swtiched their format from nu-metal and rap/rock to indie rock.

Indie is the new mainstream? I would disagree there. I would say hip-hop is. And has been for quite some time.
Here are the songs you are guaranteed to hear:

At Least That's What You Said
I'm The Man Who Loves You
I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
The Late Greats
Hummingbird
Muzzle Of Bees
Jesus, Etc.
Poor Places
Handshake Drugs
A Shot In The Arm
I'm A Wheel
Spiders (Kidsmoke)
Kingpin
Political Science
Theologians
Ashes Of American Flags
Heavy Metal Drummer
Another Man's Done Gone
The show was great. The set list was fantastic. Jeff was funny as shit. Almost as good as last year's performance, if not AS good. I haven't read the previous page, because I don't want to read Rhett/Sam's ignorant comments, but didn't the scary photo of the face you were supposed to make during "Kingpin" crack anyone up?

The Killers and Interpol and The Strokes aren't indie rock, my friend.

is just me or has wilco turned into REM
It's just you. Uncle Tupelo perhaps…
They are indie rock to the extent that the current incarnation of wilco is.

I was thinking more along the lines of Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, Shins, Franz Ferdinand (live! on the grammies!) etc.

I mean let's face it, indie rock has won the battle. Bands like Korn and Creed are history, indie is the new mainstream.

Maybe the crossover appeal/mainstream status, but definitely not the music or what they're all about… I think "AM" was their REM record… AM sucks Passenger Side sucks Fuck everyone who sang along to it last night
ok now this thread has officially turned into a useless conversation…but since we're on the topic isn't "indie" used as glibly and nonsensically as "alternative" was in the 90s? Or, who the hell cares anyways?

I was in St. Louis for a wedding last month and a high school friend said he had just been to their show and that they are great. I had never heard of them, are they new country?
