NEW YORK, Oct. 9 â?? Is 21-year-old Britney Spears trying to attract a more mature audience with her upcoming album, â??In the Zoneâ??
NO, THE POP singer says. â??The record label wanted me to do certain kinds of songs, and I was like, â??Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, thatâ??s not me,â?â?? she tells Esquire magazine in its November issue. â??I will never do that. Iâ??m still doing what I love to do.â?
Spears appears on the cover in a short white sweater and high heels, re-creating a famous pose by actress Angie Dickinson.
But she doesnâ??t see herself as superfamous.
â??Iâ??m famous, but Iâ??m not famous like freaking Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston. But in my weird little head, I just think weâ??re all here to inspire each other. Weâ??re all equal. We just bounce off each other and show the world what we can do.â?
Spears said if she didnâ??t have a career in music, she â??probably would have gone to college and become a schoolteacher.
â??That was my dream, because I love kids,â? she said. â??Either that, or an entertainment lawyer.â?
Spearsâ?? new album, â??In the Zone,â? is scheduled to be released on Nov. 18. The video for the first single, â??Me Against the Music,â? featuring Madonna, will debut on MTVâ??s â??Making the Videoâ? on October 13, according to Jive Records.
â??Me Against the Musicâ? was co-written by Spears and produced by Redzone.
The pop star co-wrote seven of the 13 songs on the album.
