Black Cat to ban Flip Flops

Or thongs as I was accustomed to calling them before Sisqo messed it up for me.

http://dcist.com/2008/05/05/flip_flops_dont.php

Not sure if they'll actually enforce it, but I think it's a good rule. I still haven't found a good show-going shoe replacement for my Docs, though.
Why replace? Rock those Docs!
what's next, no hats?
It's definitely going to be enforced promise. :)

It is a big liability issue when glasses are smashed all over the ground, drinks are spilled causing the floors to be a little slicker and also getting your toes crushed when people are dancing/moshing.

Really it should come down to common sense, but seeing how people have a hard time reading the signs on the doors for which is in and which is out. I really don't think posting a sign will help either.

Only Kate Moss is allowed to wear flip flops at the Cat. lol

But it's only rubber flip-flops. So it doesn't really matter.

I can continue wearing sandals to a show and ballet flats and other slip on things I don't need to wear socks with.
FINALLY!

JUSTICE!!!

youth has been saved. see what happens when you invite tom morello to play? are you listening 930 club?!?
Could've sworn I read something like this a while ago. I want to say it was in the comments section of that poorly written anti-black cat byt post in which the writer was whining about petty bullshit and saying he'd never return again?
Don't think he mentioned not being able to wear flip-flops but one of the many "boo black cat! RNR Hotel is better!" drones who commented did but I could be wrong.
Good. Flip flops are turbo anyway. I never leave the house without my Ferragamo's or Bruno's anyway.
i've seen bloody feet being attended to at the free water stations on many occasions
i've been pulling for a "no stupid shoes relative to the situation" policy for years now. the best i've gotten so far is the "sensible shoes" thing in the new faq.

Oh, sorry guys, I thought I was logged into my LNS account for a second. My apologies.

If you try hard enough, you can get an escalator to destroy any pair of shoes.

Nearly got caught skipping class in the 7th grade after heading down to hollywood park and my buddy forcing his vans on to the side of the escalator. It tore off the rubber strip that encircles the sole of the shoe. This flap was then sucked into the step as it was closing and his shoe was subsequently stuck in the escalator, caused a huge scene (luckily he was able to get his foot out of the shoe in time) and we got free cokes and hot dogs for the rest of the day.
Could they please extend the flip flop ban to the workplace as well?

Actually, limiting those ugly things to only the beach, the pool, or the shower would be great.

Thank you for your cooperation ladies (and guys swishy enough to wear them). I know with your help, we can make it a better, more attractive world.
Here is that article:

And a more recent discussion of the Black Cat's many, many rules here:

Add to that list the latest one - no video allowed backstage prior to a show even if band and management ok's ahead of time. We had to cancel our BYT Sessions with Dead Meadow the day of because of this. But check out our recent one with French Kicks as a consolation prize:

Wow someone really loves to bitch and complain. It's funny how you have to keep showing info from your site regarding the "many many rules of the Black Cat." Drumming up web traffic or just want people to see how much you whine and bitch?

My suggestion is, if you have that many issues with The Black Cat's rules, move your parties to a 21+ instead of an all ages venue, where all those rules you're so much against, won't be in place.

Do you think that maybe they only subject you to some of the rules you've mentioned because you and your site have probably been a huge pain in the ass to them? Just a thought.
