Epstein, what kinds of ticket prices have you come across? Cheapest I've found is $814 out of JFK via Air India.
Hmmmm…I'm on the fence. I think I need to see the complete lineup before I decide. I seriously doubt they can sell this year out. No Doubt is kind of an odd pick, but they need a big headliner and that will turn some heads.
No doubt is to this year's lineup like RHCP were to last year's.

Ugh…

That was such a great slot taken up by the shittiest headliner imaginable.

look at it this way, a shitty-yet-popular headliner means an act playing around the same time on another stage will have less assholes hanging around. the last day of ACL 05, coldplay was headlining and not only did i have a great time seeing tortoise with a nice, well-behaved crowd around, but also leaving during coldplay's set meant minimal backup when dealing with lines/traffic to get back into town.
That is a good point.

But during RHCP last year, the rest of the stages were either dead or had someone playing on them that I didn't care to see.
In addition to all this, someone said that Kelis was rumored to be playing on Day 2…which is RRRRRANDOM.
Is that the girl who does that milkshake song?

That song is catchy.

Well, Nas will is apparently performing on Sunday.

Catchy yes… until you've seen the version at the of credits in Dodgeball
If you read Jason's post on the Spiritualized website, it looks like a Spirtualized (Acoustic Mainlines) appearance at Coachella as he mentions a short tour from Vancouver to Palm Springs.
I believe that listed on brooklynvegan to be total bullshit. It may be 50% correct, but probably more like 30%.
no must-see acts, but overall i'd be satisfied with that lineup. although it was a few big names that put me on a plane last year, i got immense pleasure from running from tent to tent early in the day sampling new bands and stopping when i found a gem, which was quite often (ok, running around in 106 degree heat wasn't THAT pleasurable, but the music made up for it).

above-mentioned acts that i'd be very psyched to see:

Pulp
the Chemical Brothers
Death Cab for Cutie
Feist
Broken Social Scene
Magnetic Fields
Swervedriver
Supergrass
R.E.M.
A Tribe Called Quest
Underworld
the Verve
Sufjan Stevens
Goldfrapp
Metric
Rabbit in the Moon
Portishead
Aphex Twin
Justice
Nas
Royksopp
Mogwai
Simian Mobile Disco
Hot Chip
Islands

dunno, seems pretty solid to me. throw in a few pleasant surprises and you have one happy camper.

either your memory fails you, or your taste in music did. during the RHCP/tiesto fiasco, you had the opportunity to catch:
blond redhead
G,B & Q
justice
lcd (wasn't impressive, tho)
sparklehorse
black keys
girl talk
cornelius
the rapture

i caught most of the rapture, and it was a highlight of the festie for me.
You're right; a case of my memory failing me.

Cornelius and GBQ were both later on in the night (up against tiesto). I did see parts of LCD and Girl Talk but wasn't too thrilled by either.

I thought blond redhead was earlier that night but could be wrong. For some odd reason, both the friend I was with and I thought Justice were playing on sunday until it was too late and we'd missed them. :(
Just for the record, an updated list of confirmed and highly likely bands for you all:

Confirmed:
The Breeders
Death Cab for Cutie
Goldfrapp
Spiritualized
Cold War Kids
Kid Sister
VHS or Beta
Akron/Family
Dwight Yoakam
Autolux
Chromeo
Sons & Daughters
Dredg
Duffy
Heidi Vogel & The Cinematic Orchestra
Electric Touch
Austin TV

Very Likely:
Portishead
The Verve
Hot Chip
Simian Mobile Disco
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Islands
Del the Funky Homosapien (possibly with Deltron 3030)
Cut Copy
Rabbit in the Moon
Turbonegro
Also, in addition to the bands I mentioned above, there apparently was some sort of announcement yesterday on KROQ in LA about Muse playing and possibly headlining one day of Coachella. Are they really big enough to headline? I mean, to me they seem like a very strong #2 act, but not necessarily a headliner (kinda like Interpol, Arcade Fire and Manu Chao were last year).

I agree that they are not that big in America but they are HUGE in England. They sold out two nights at the new Wembley. That's 90,000 a night, folks. For Coachella they should just have Matt Bellamy play guitar and have Mika do vocals and do a solid 90-minute set of Queen songs.

They did (co-)headline Saturday night at Lollapalooza last year and I think they sold out MSG shortly thereafter…
Since my last post of the confirmed acts, the following bands have added to the lineup:

Animal Collective
Simian Mobile Disco
Man Man
Kavinsky
Sia
Muse played in 2004 during the day, and there were people who had flown from Japan just to see them. I think they could definitely headline.
