Most Disappointing/Underwhelming Show of 2007 That You A

I agree.
This one's easy - The Police @ the Oakland Coliseum. It's well documented on here somewhere.

Honorable mention - Smashing Pumpkins @ The Filmore
I remember that New York Dolls rip off band opening for the Stooges. Absolutely dreadful.

Hate to say it, but Neko Case @ 930 club. Not to say it was a bad show at all. I was glad I finally got to hear those incredible sets of pipes on Ms. Case live. But the show just didn't hit me full on for some reason. The couple next to me talking and laughing it up through the whole set didn't help.
Haha, Simple Kid. What a douche.

I don't know if I could call Deerhunter "disappointing" because they're awful, but that was definitely the worst performance I saw.

Amy Winehouse at Virgin Festival was quite boring, as was Incubus (c'mon, who indulges in a lengthy "Sick, Sad Little World" or "Love Hurts" in the sweltering heat?).
Cold War Kids
LCD Soundsystem at the 930. I think all the hype I'd heard/read about their shows going into it had something to do with it. They finished and I stood there thinking "so that's it?" Still no idea as to how that show made it onto so many people's top 10 of the year.

EITS was another. But I loved the Eluvium set that night which made the show worth seeing.
as mentioned in the "best concert of the year" thread, i thought that the national @ 930 and the arctic monkees @ 930 were booooooring. would have been better off skipping those two. filed under "i don't get the hype", even after two shows, is MIA. meh.

how about most underwhelming opener:

simple kid opening for kol/brmc
simple kid, as in this guy? because he opened for spiritualized in NYC, and he was pretty good. backed himself up with a laptop, at times projected ableton behind him, other times had trippy projections. highlight was a duel with kermit the frog :) funny guy, really connected with the audience. maybe he was having an off night at kol/bmrc.

worse opener was definitely the paper chase.
I did think that National show was pretty meh too but then again, I'm not all that familiar with their material.
Can I say that the Hard-Fi show at the Black Cat last year still ranks higher in disappointing, underwhelming shows than anything I saw this year?
LCD Soundsystem @ VFest

Klaxons was disappointing because I expected a hell of a lot more, but once I realized it I enjoyed it. Still disappointing though.
Worst show was Lucinda Williams in Harrisburg, but my best show this year was Lucinda Williams at Ram's Head. Night and day difference in the sound system which definitely affected Lucinda's interest in putting on a good show.
I thought the National were very good as AFire opener at DAR, but I think Boxer is pretty boring, so am glad I skipped the 9:30 show.

I've really enjoyed the 2 Arctic Monkey shows I've seen. They don't do much on stage, but the sound is always so crisp and crunchy, and the songs are great.

I don't know if Liars at Black Cat was this year, but that show did nothing for me.

That was last year. They were scheduled to play here in september but cancelled their tour in order to open for interpol on a few dates.
Justice at the Troc in Philly.

I just hyped it up too much leading up to it. They could have torn it apart, but they were predictable and somewhat boring.
I saw The National @ Bonnaroo and at 930, and both were disappointing. I love their new CD, but I think I just overhyped it and expected more.
I had huge expectation for Andrew Bird at the 9:30 Club and left disappointed.

Low expectations are clearly the key to happiness in life.

I really liked this show. It made my top 10 of the year and I saw WAYYYYYYY more then 10 shows. To each their own, though.

Kaiser Chiefs/Walkmen

The Walkmen seemed a little bored by their own set and the Kaiser Chiefs, even with all of the energy, came off as cheesier than the first time I saw them. If I remember correctly though, this was only a couple of days after The Stooges so most things would have paled in comparison.
Agreed. It was by no means a bad show, but it was just not as good as last time they rolled on through.

YLT were fine, but the show was ruined by a really disrespectful crowd and horrible sound.
This was my most disappointing as well. Made me want to never go back to Sonar.

Whatever the band was between Gallows and Bad Religion was the worst band I've seen in years.

THat band was the briggs and I agree they sucked balls. ALot of meathead assholes were going crazy to that band probably just cus they knew the lyrics. Suprised I didnt get into a fight cus i was right upfront. The band even said the Gallows make them look like Britney Spears lol.Well the singer did the other guys were pissed, they were like dont tell them we suck!
