Best band or musician from your hometown?

Dave Grohl lived around here for a while, but his parents currently reside in Bethesda, so I think that's what I'm going to take. For now.

Spike Jonze graduated from my high school…can he count, anyway? He's dated enough musicians. Close enough.

hmmmm, depends on your definition of from

Bono is strictly speaking from Dublin but lived in my hometown of Bray while I was growing up (in a Martello Tower)
Phil Coulter lived literally across the street from us….not many people here will have heard of him but he's a pretty famous musician
Kelly Willis went to (and dropped out of) my high school (Annandale HS) and Dave Grohl would've went there as well had he been a year younger (they merged Thomas Jefferson into Annandale as it became a solely high tech school).
i'll go with

Rush or Neil Young
Roanoke/Salem: Wayne Newton, there's no contest.

My favorites were the local bands in the early ninties: Fallout, Integration, Equity, Swank.

Don't forget Ms. Myra Ellen Amos.
Hometown: San Diego

A few to choose from and if we are going by cool factor and not popularity then Mojo Nixon and the Beat Farmers trumps Blink 182.
