Best band or musician from your hometown?

Jude376's post about a band being from his region and not knowing about it inspired me to think about this.

Who is the best band or solo artist from your hometown?

Mine would seem obvious, being that I'm from Anaheim, that it would have to be No Doubt. But I would say that the little known fact that Jeff Buckley was born and raised in Anaheim makes him the best musician from Anaheim, hands down.
Hell yeah.

There's not a lot of local Sykesville bands, so I'd choose either Marshall Slaw or Compression. But since I lost their homemade cassettes probably 10 years ago, they might not be as good as I remember them…

Hometown is Santa Rosa, California…
I would say The Velvet Teen.
Sarasota, FL: Hot Water Music or Against Me!

(both of which are "technically" from Gainesville, FL, but both have band members who went to my high school in SRQ)
I don't think anyone is from my specific hometown, but Ted Leo hails from the adjacent town of Bloomfield, N.J.
Novato, California (in Marin County)
Huey Lewis & the News
Metallica - San Rafael, CA and Novato, CA (at least some of them live there now)
En Vogue - Novato (or so I had heard)

hmmm guess the best is Huey Lewis :)

I grew up in rural upstate NY. The Figgs are from the nearest town, Saratoga Springs.

How's the cat?
Glen Ellyn, IL: Billy Corgan

I guess technically he grew up in Glendale Heights, but his step parents live there now and he went to my high school for a year. So I'm claiming him.
My mind is blanking out but just a few.

(Baltimore)

Billy Holiday
Cab Calloway
Chick Webb
David Byrne

Though I'm not a fan in the least, I bet that Hoya would want to add TuPac(sp?) and Cisco to my list.
Roanoke. Agents of Good Roots.

Holla.

2pac, on the other hand …
STORY OF THE YEAR!!!!!!

or Son Volt, Wilco would be a stretch since they turned their back on the St. Louis area for Chicago, both are actually from Belleville, IL (just outside of STL), but Farrar now lives in St. Louis

or Chuck Berry
Buffalo– Ani Difranco and moe.

And I'll throw old Goo Goo Dolls in there for good measure, but not newer Dolls.

LOL. Sorry….but, you do know how to spell his name correctly. Better yet, you, a Floridian living in DC, know that he was from Druid Hill. Even I didn't know that.
