Richard Buckner Roll Call

I did like the show he did with lambchop and Matt Pond about two years ago today…..
or maybe you are thinking of when Matt Pond opened for the New Pornographers and The Frames
The Psychedelic Furs don't play here until next week. I'm looking forward to Richard Butler.
If you are going to any of these March shows for Buckner, don't, he is actually the first one to play, does not play for very long, and at least tonight, does a pretty poor job of performing his own songs.
To add salt to the wound, M. Ward did not actually play, he was supposed to, but pulled out about 3 days ago, even though Iota only added him in the last couple of days on their site.
Tandy were AWFUL. Did not stay for more then a song and a half.

You are probably right.
Uhm, tonight was one of my worst ever concert experiences. If you like that guy, I really think you should like Springsteen.

Nope, Buckner was fine…… But he only played for twenty minutes. Thandie were awful and the band I wanted to see were not even there.
I am pretty sure that would still be one of my most disappointing concert experiences, despite Buckner being OK.

Hmmmm, coupla really dissuasive comments. Well, if you're interested in the "featuring" artist, think it's worthwhile?

Just kidding. Sure. Buckner only played briefly and he plays first. If its the other act you want to see you can just ignore Buckner as another average opener.
Caveat emptor: if you're a fan of Buckner's older ("Bloomed" era) stuff, DON'T GO. He hasn't been playing most of the country/folk songs for the last couple of years, and the few he still plays are slowed down to glacial pace… I saw him last summer and found most of the set to be aimless masturbation, but people seem to like that sorta thing…
Sometimes I wonder if I'm the last Freedy Johnston fan left on the planet.

I wouldn't pay to see FReedy Johnston anymore, but I'd still listen to his albums.

Wow - I feel stupid for recommending him (Buckner).
He really was good when I saw him [sheepishly].
Twas years ago though. I have kind of lost track of him after he did that poetry-to-music record.
