Blitzen Trapper poster

Let's start the roll call thread for Alela Diane's next local concert appearance now. Count me in.
When I saw that she was opening, my ears perked up, but alas the show was already sold out.

Absolutely LOVED Alela Diane's set and her band. I was in awe throughout her set…I bailed after seeing Blitzen Trapper for an hour (good thing they played Furr and Not Your Lover within that hour). Maybe it's just me but they are not a very good live band…or they pick openers that are better than them :)

What the Hell does this have to do with Arabs and peanuts?

sorry it was lost upon you.
were they signed by the band? Were they selling the posters? How much? I am glad that bands can make a little coin selling them, not enough do.

They are all signed by me if that matters to you and they are lower numbers. Plus you get a free sticker!
It wasn't at all lost on me but when you accused me of believing in things that I absolutely do not believe in, I refused to accept that. Analogy or not, it creates the idea to others that anyone calling bullshit on corruption is crazy. WRONG!

It's no secret that there are plenty of companies operating scams to jack up profits. If you prefer to play nice with them and accept that, that's fine with me but very unfair to all the bands and fans who are affected. Ends up having a negative impact on the majority. But go ahead and play along. That's on you. My sense of ethics find that appalling.

If it makes you feel better to think of me donning a funny hat, than go ahead. It's much better taking that chance by speaking out than being screwed up the ass, the way you sheeple love it best.

then the analogy was lost upon you, because i never said that you believed that crap about terrorists and/or peanuts. i was comparing those hysterias to that of seeing all scalpers as being TM lackeys - AKA equally over the top and in need of moderation. i'm entirely in favor of calling BS on corruption, but let's make sure the accusation is founded.

again, i'm against this mergers and greedy corporations. i'm also against seeing unfounded conspiracies everywhere. but that's me. my sense of reality finds your outlook appalling :)

please, speak out. we need more people with strong voices and willing to stand up. i admire this in you, just not the extreme to which i believe you are taking it.

i'll shut up now.

i saw multiple signatures, so i was assuming they were the band's. they were ten dollars and nice sized. i tried to grab one as i was leaving . . . bt wasn't even finished yet, and they were all gone. :'(

one thing i left out of my post about the show, because when i wrote it this morning i was suffering massive attacks of the hangover blues, from an evening starting with mojitos at the hotel bar > half a bottle of pinot blanc at dinner > beers at the show > nightcap beer back at the hotel bar, was my INCREDIBLE experience at the hotel i stayed at. not sure i will divulge the name of the place or the room number; i'm sure the hotel would not be too thrilled. i wanted to say something to the concierge this morning, but my partner would not let me.

so here is how it all went. first of all the hotel has gone through a total renovation (which makes sense to the story). they don't like such things. as i was leaving for the show, a show on the tv about the paranormal came on. at the show, my coat check number was 666. on the way back to the hotel after the show, the cab driver was blasting holy roller jesus music (which was a first after years of using cabs). i drink plenty of water then fall asleep. in my dream the following happens: i was trapped in a large old house, with many hallways, lots of rooms, and various people of differnent characteristics wandering about questioning why i was there. i was holding a large leather book that had light strips which would blink on an off in certain orders, as if looking at the book was like standing on a sidewalk staring up at a tall building watching the lights go on and off in certain floor windows. a man with a fat face sat beside me, pointed to specific part of the book (closely relative to the floor i was staying on) and said what are those lights for? i replied that they represent ghosts in relation to people, and that this light was for me . . . . at which point the dream stopped. i felt as if i was being suddenly smothered in my dream and overtaken with that horrible supernatural "presense" when you know that you are not alone. i have felt it before but this was the strongest it has ever come across. i awoke instantly, but the smothering sensation and the "presense" were still there, as strong as ever. i could not move, the room was freezing, and i began to panic because my brain put a to b instantly, knowing exactly what was happening. i was NOT alone in that room. someone was attempting to make contact but my fear overpowered it and pushed it away. it was all over within a minute. i fell as if i missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime to be my own sylvia brown, who just happen to be on the mike and juliet show this morning. oh well, there is always next time . . . and i will request that room number again. :o
How do you feel about terrorists and/or peanuts?

go beards. somehow, i feel the black cat draws a type of people who are always attempting to be and look indie cool. which is fine if that is who you are. goth people are the same way. they all are just so interesting. go interesting people. i'm pretty sure i was the only one in a phish shirt last night, and believe me i caught many the "dirty" looks. :D

Yay for the beard love! Good review of the show.

I would definitely rather be in a room full of indie kids trying to be cool than a room of Goth kids trying not to be cool.

Too bad i caught a bit of the consumption this weekend, and didnt go to work yesterday, which meant i had to skip out on BT this time. As they say, the band always comes back.

Couldn't disagree more about the first part. I thought it was one of the best sounding, best performed shows I've seen in the past year.
Am I missing something? What is the significance of the loaf of bread on the poster?…New york times compares BT to pavement, which I don't see. They call them a "folk-rock sextet with an avant-garde bent" , an accurate assessment…I,too thought that they did not come off so well live, sounded like the records. Although, I did enjoy the transition from Black River to Lady on the Water…Didn't experience it so much this time but I remember seeing Luna at the Black Cat and getting really annoyed at the constant yammering around me….btw beards and goatees rock!
It was a play on the song title "Gold for Bread"

A reference to "Gold for Bread," I imagine.
i think it means the economy is about to collapse, and food, ie bread, will be worth more than money, ie gold. traditions and systems will be reversed . . . and everyone will have beards and messed up hair. but no more organic lagers. :'(
yeah, that too
Everyone needs to get their horse riding skills up to par for the Thunderdome
