Blitzen Trapper poster

A poster for Blitzen Trapper who, for the brave at heart, are playing tonight at the Black Cat. The show is sold out. You can get and see a poster www.eljefedesign.com.
can these be had at the show, or only at your site?  would love to have one to mark my bday trek through the snow.
That sounds like a recipe for a damaged poster.

Agreed. Worth the extra expense of the postage for protection and the convenience of not having to lug it around. That alone always damages these things.

Nice poster by the way.
You can get them on my site. The selling at the show is up to the band so most likely…. no. You can tear one down from the wall, which most people do, but that would have tape and damage all over.
Is the show definitely on for tonight?
I hope. They were in Philly last night, so it's not a long drive for them ;)

That poster definitely needs to make its way to my collection.
I'm not going to the show, but anybody have any pre-show opinions about the opener?>
bah - i wish i would have got tickets to this show.
FYI - I was just able to buy a couple tickets off of Ticketmaster…. guess they released some today

Guess they released some tickets they couldn't scalp on StubHubb or whatever their upscale resale scam site is.  ::)  Also, maybe they figured that the snow would greatly cut down on those hoping to find tickets outside at the show. Wonder how many of those resellers are Ticketbastard lackies?

Uh, huh. Tell that one to Seth too. It's making fun of those pointing out scams such as this that help to continue these scams. That's okay. Keep buying your over-priced tickets. I sure won't!

the problem is, jag, that you're seeing scams where there are none.  stubhub is owned by neither ticketmaster nor live nation (it's owned by ebay).  and do you seriously think that the dude on the corner outside of verizon center asking "who's got tickets?  who needs tickets?" is a TM lackey?  seriously?  you're sounding paranoid, and this isn't the first time you've raised the alarm on TM.

it's something i've taken issue with recently: one thing goes negative, and people see evil EVERYWHERE.  one kid has an allergic reaction to peanuts?  BAN ALL GROUNDNUTS EVERYWHERE.  a few extremist muslims brought down the world trade center?  ALL ARABS ARE TERRORISTS.  someone is scalping tickets on a street corner, something he's been doing for years?  HE OBVIOUSLY REPORTS DIRECTLY TO TICKETMASTER'S CEO.

as someone who spends far too much of his income on over-priced tickets, there are few on this board who have a bigger stake in stopping this merger (ok, seth's situation trumps mine…).  i'm first in line to protest this deal.  however, i refuse to go overboard and attribute all scalping, anywhere, to TM & LN.  only a lot of it :D

Excuse me but how do you know? Apparently, there is enough concern over such practices to make it an issue in Washington and on CSPAN. Far from the first time in history that some company pulled games like this for profit. If you don't believe that than you need to do some research.

I'm not so sure about the people outside but, again, professional resellers are being taken to task by many of us due to conflicts of interest.

What the Hell does this have to do with Arabs and peanuts? That's YOUR issue. You're lumping me in with many who think differently from me. That's the problem with painting with too broad of a brush. One issue does not necessarily coincide with another. Guess you have taken too much to heart the belief that ignorance is bliss. After awhile, it's not.

When you are in a pasture full of rosey glasses wearing sheeple, sometimes you have to point out things more than once. I know it's so much easier to pretend that all is fine and everyone has your best interest at heart but in the real world, that's not always so. In fact, I take issue with sheep who expect everyone to shut up and play along when eveything is not rosey. Again, those pulling scams expect you to keep your eyes and mouth shut and tow the line. I can't condone such actions.

Ba ba baaaa….. Tickmaster loves you!

SO…. how was the show?

i mentioned to the bassist of bt, how much i love your (el jefe) posters, while him and the drummer were at the table selling merch, to which he just looked at me and said, "huh? . . . yeah . . . he's not here. "  sort of thought he was kind of strange, and when they took the stage, it was him that stood out the most.  everybody in the band evokes a commune of oregon youth with messed up hair, that drink only herbal tea and organic lagers, shop at the local goodwill and make it all seem cool.  but the bassist looked as if he didn't want to be there the entire set, and evoked an image of somehow he ended up in the wrong band on the nickelback tour with a corona in his hand.  bt is good.  ok, they are excellent; their music is a haunting new expression at the art of making sound from machines and voices from throats into microphones.  the writing is sheer brilliant.  damn that bassist for distracting me.  and also is it just me, or are there way too many members?

the crowd was so strange.  too many young people who appeared as if they have never been to a show before, and those annoying fucks who don't understand what not talking the entire show is about.  stay the fuck home and talk all you want.  plus the beards.  i have a beard, and it was nice to be in the presense of so many beards.  go beards.  somehow, i feel the black cat draws a type of people who are always attempting to be and look indie cool.  which is fine if that is who you are.  goth people are the same way.  they all are just so interesting.  go interesting people.  i'm pretty sure i was the only one in a phish shirt last night, and believe me i caught many the "dirty" looks.  :D

now i save the last paragraph for the opening band, alela diane.  wow.  jesus in the sky, i just said wow.  they wrapped me in their web of beauty, lyrics, basic stripped down acoustic folk bliss, leaving me staring in bopping head disbelief.  the clothes they wore, the drummer.  the ethereal girl in the dime store dress with oyster shell(?) necklace, stage left . . . i am in love with you.  that bass.  the drummer.  the father/daughter team, and when he brought out the mandolin, it was over.  her songs had meaning and substance, such as the ode to her mother.  toward the end of the night, as they sat at the mech table singing along to bt and were obviously getting tired, i just had to go on up, buy their cd and tell them "that it's bands such as them that i'm glad i come to shows early."

i will be buying a poster, el jefe.  will they be signed as they were at the show?  if not, i am still buying one.  one hell of a show at the black cat, black cat . . . spare change for the homeless looking kids on the stage.
You should definitely write us more show reviews like this one!

Absolutely LOVED Alela Diane's set and her band. I was in awe throughout her set…I bailed after seeing Blitzen Trapper for an hour (good thing they played Furr and Not Your Lover within that hour). Maybe it's just me but they are not a very good live band…or they pick openers that are better than them :)
