Great Song or The Greatest Song
Most likely in my all-time top 10
at this urgent hour, I'd put it at #6

I'm going through a bit of a Queen obsession at the moment, primarily because I was in a particularly grumpy mood the other day while driving to the Metro and that new classic rock station served up "Killer Queen" and it completely changed my mood. So I've blasting some Queen greatest hits in the car, for the short trips around the hood.
It dawned on me that a whole lot of Indie Rock bands could use more inspiration from Queen. Where is the swagger, the hooks, the soaring vocals, when was the last time you air drummed to a Indie Rock band.

I'm not saying that bands need to start sounding exactly like Queen or become Queen rip-offs, partly because there was only one Freddie Mercury. What they need to do is stop jumping on the latest indie rock craze and develop their own sound, using bands like Queen for inspiration.
One of my favorite records of the last decade came from Splitsville, a little heard band outside of the power pop scene. Anyways, you can tell the band members grew up listening to Queen, KISS, The Beatles, Beach Boys etc, but they were able to bring those influences together and still create a sound of their own. They also recorded the best Coldplay/Keane song I've ever heard.
omg wtf !

"I Was Born To Love You" is a really great and somewhat forgotten or overlooked Freddie Mercury song.

but freddie was gay. people hate gay people.
"A Night at the Opera" is such a great album, especially the transition of going from "The Prophet's Song" to "Love of my Life".

Get over it Walkie. You're living in the past. Thankfully, that statement isn't anywhere near as true as it once was.

no no, he needs fuel to feed his paranoia. his world would crumble if he realized it wasn't quite the horrible, scary place he makes it out to be.
all gays are being lynched! all residents of DC are being continually shot! all aid money is being embezzled! the whole world is made of bacon! etc…

Thank you, Sweets. You just saved me a rant.
If he truly got what I said, he would have understood that I did not say that homophobia did not exist but that the whole world isn't 'out to get them'. These days, closet salesmen are hurting for business… and that's a good thing.

Actually, he's living in rural Virginia, you're living in suburban Baltimore, and best I can tell, Sweetcell pretty much spends his life on U Street.
That probably explains your perceived differences in attitudes towards gays.
actually . . . this thread was boring and going nowhere without me. you see, gays are good for something.
