So, an example. Guided by Voices tickets just went on sale (10 a.m. this morning). If you go to TicketFly, you can't find the tickets. But, the Robert Pollard page has a link. It's the 'general sale' and all the other GBV shows are selling out as they go on sale. Just weird. Great for me, I got my 4 tickets (there is a 4 ticket limit, so maybe this is somehow the 'artist's sale???).
yeah, i googled "guided by voices 930 club" and the ticketfly link was the first result

The GBV shows in Boston and Philly sold out within minutes after they went on sale.
Very excited as I've never seen Tobin Sprout play with them. Hopefully we get to hear his GBV contributions during this tour.

I also googled it, got the link, and it was listed as "sold out"…. so, my question is, is the whole show sold out, or do they have a smaller allottment that can be bought during this "soft sale"??….

It's definitely sold out. It was a regular sale that you can't search on ticketfly.
The link was posted at gbv.com. It took four hours for it to sell out.

'zag, thanks for the heads-up this morning. it's been a hectic day, but i happened to check the board in time, around noon. danke.
i doubt that the whole show is sold out. this was probably the artist's allotment. i'd expect a general onsale at some point.

well, as of late, I have no idea what's going on with tickets and how they are sold / announced / soft sale / freaky hidden links; but apparently I missed GBV going on-sale today. (Need to read my email blast more closely 'cause I swear I didn't see it announced there for new show / soft sale). I did see azag's post but I was busy and didn't click 'cause I truly don't remember any clicking to be done. (I said I was busy;))
I also figured the on-sale date was at least a few days, if not a week or two away, since the show is months from now. Crap if anything happens to soft/pre-sales, but whatever. Spent the day in ER not on a computer so, I'll be looking for a ticket outside the door, or missing another show, I guess.

no need to panic, IMO. i suspect this was an artist's presale. i don't think that the whole how is sold out. it wasn't announced anywhere other than pollard's website - no e-mail blast, no volume, no 930-dot-com. i strongly suspect the public onsale is yet to come.

I dunno. Other shows on Pollard's site had a specific presale listed. I think that was it.

930's twitter offers the Xanax to my panic…If I interpret it correctly: club's GBV public sale still to come. A big whew, but still, is it me or are sales a bit off or confusing w/TF / sales lately? Probably just me, but I want the club to know I appreciate the soft and pre-sales and all Seth does for us. (My opinions about link announcements, [until more is revealed] are along the lines of Bombay's and with Shadrach's echoes, for what it's worth.)

When the show was announced, I did remark to Joe that there may be two shows given the early doortime. Maybe there is something to this.

Two shows? No way Pollard could do that, right? I mean, exactly how drunk would he be for the second show?

I don't wanna discourage you or anyone, but I read the twitter response from 930 and it's the same response you'd get if a show hasn't been announced yet (which is true). So, I won't be surprised if the show is finally announced and it will say "SOLD OUT". It will be the same response you'd get if you inquire about Social Distortion, which has been on sale for a week or so…. ;D
Remember the "soft sales" from tickets.com in the past? (soft sales selling out before the shows were announced…).

right, but this wasn't a soft sale. it was an artist's presale. artists never get the full allotment. there will be more tickets available for sale.
