loudest show at the club?

loudest show i've experienced at the 930: iggy and the stooges.  runners-up: LCDSS.

et tu?
Dinosaur Jr.
Black Pus
The most recent Mogwai show

That last BRMC show was unnecessarily loud and muddy.
I do remember the hi's being uncomfortably loud at that LCDSS show.

which time?  or every time?

and indeed, the highs were slicing my head off at the LCD show.  really distorted and piercing.
Dead Meadow opening for Fugazi many years back. It was awesome.
I've only caught them at the club once (09).

The 2nd Black Pus set there when he opened for ratatat was the funniest loud show experience. The front row consisted of myself (wanted a good spot for Black Pus) and HS kids probably at their first show. Needless to say, they were not equipped with the proper ear protection. Chippendale comes out and hits something that causes some of the highest shards of feedback I ever heard to ring out throughout the room. I turned to one of the kids and said "oh yeah…you may have wanted to bring earplugs." Chippendale then proceeds to do irreparable damage to their hearing for 30 minutes almost non-stop. As agonizing as it must have been, they did stand there and take it.

That Ratatat set was unnecessarily loud as well. And it sucked. I think I left 15 minutes in.

I was at both. LCDSS louder. But Dream Syndicate (@ F St.) loudest.
The first Animal Collective show at the club was piercing.

I can still hear those "Peace Bone" shrieks now.

Seconded. I haven't been to enough shows at the club to compare, but BRMC's recent show in April was fucking loud. I've only felt ear pain during three shows in my life, and this was one of them (others: Iron Maiden at MPP standing next to the speakers in the pit; Pantera in Hampton, VA in 1998).
Placebo … maybe 8 years ago or so. It was a cheap show, as I recall. I could handle only about 3 songs.
Twilight Sad (opening for Mono) were unnecessarily loud you couldn't make out the songs they were playing.

The loudest show I've enjoyed was the last Mogwai show.
That Twilight Sad set was a mess.

Possibly the ugliest thing I've ever heard come out of the club's PA.
I find a lot of "IT" brit bands to be un-necessarily loud,  Cooper Temple Clause was one of the most painful…
melvins this year, that was evil
Iggy's last solo show at the club was brutal in the best way possible.  I remember being afraid for my hearing the drummer sat at his kit and hit the kick drum once.  And that JSBX show when the new club first opened was insane too.  I remember calling a friend three days later to make sure I wasn't the only one with ringing ears.

I still don't think i've ever experienced anything like Mogwai at the Ottobar, though.  It was like that Memorex ad.
Hmmm, several:

Garbage.  The guy was mixing from a semi in the parking lot.  Not even in the same room.  I was there the second night and it was too loud, but I was told it was quieter than night one.

Love and Rockets, forget which tour (maybe Hot Trip to Heaven).  When they would hit a bass note, all other sounds were just "lost", nothing else got through.

Then there was the Prodigy:

Fugazi
Mogwai
I was in the 2nd row during the Melvins and found that pretty tame.

And yeah, Prodigy had unnecessary volume. And I forgot my earplugs.
Spent most of that night in the backbar.
A friend tried to tape that Mogwai Ottobar show and told me that it came out as one long block of distortion. He's got great mics that can withstand just about anything, too.
I'd have to go with BRMC in April '10 and Iggy and the Stooges in April '07.  Something about April?
At the old club I saw Helmet and Jawbox…that was insanely loud. Believe it or not, Oasis' volume at the old club show was pretty insane too. They had so many amps on stage that you couldn't see Tony McCarroll behind the drum kit. If you were near the stage, you were blasted away.

At the new club, I'd say the loudest shows have been the Prodigy (even in 1998 the volume and bass was just insane), Ministry in '04 (my ears were slightly ringing the next day even WITH ear plugs in).

I've seen loads of other shows that were beyond loud (Sugar, Dinosaur Jr., Beastie Boys w/L7 come to mind), just not at the club.
