1500 LCD MSG tickets released at 10am this morning.

you like the venue Mr. Whippy?
hmm wondering how early I need to show up for Saturday.  I don't want to be too close and also don't want to be too far  ;D

Compared to other similar NYC I've been to (Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom), yes I do like it.  I don't really understand people's issues with it.  I understand that it is somewhat characterless, but it is by far the most efficient and best run of the comparable venues I have been to in NYC, and I've been to T5 six times now, I think.

I like how they bring the people who arrive up to the rooftop deck with bathrooms and bar service.  They were very good about controlling the line and making sure people didn't cut in it.  Staff were generally curteous and helpful, for example handing out tons of free water bottles to people up front last night.

Also, the other thing I really like about T5 is that the sound is great, clear, and well mixed even from the very front.  Most venues sound like crap from that close, but I've been on the rail at T5 many times now and the sound is always clear as a bell from there.

I don't know if this helps your planning at all, but I walked by T5 at 3PM yesterday and no one was there.  I came back at 4 and was about the fifth person to show up, and ended up front row for the show.
i prefer the sound at Terminal 5 than at Webster Hall….ugh….and yes, the individual bathrooms up the rooftop deck are great. I also just learned that they serve empanadas in the third floor?
i suspect that people will be lining up *really* early on saturday.

the pit at MSG is pretty small, less than half a rink, so even if you're at the very back of it you'll still have a better view (and better sound) than 90% of the people there.

sounds awesome  ;D
i know people who said they will be there around 10 am (they have GA seats)

Such a shame, really.  What will you do when he "retires" and Pitchfork won't tell you what to post-ironically dance to?

i dance to springsteen and that cutie patootie girl from friends in that one video.  then i get it done all groove style to floyd.  yeah man . . . floyd.
At least there's something that gets people to dance, even if it is for a few more days….
Empanada mamas is currently not there. Not sure if its coming back. A friend said its seasonal. They have the vietnamese hotdog place now on the 2nd floor. Cant think of the name of it.

T5 one of the best venues here? I think (whoever said it) you had only been to like Irving Plaza and Bowery. Theres a lot of other venues out there, Id much rather go to. Granted at that size our choices are going down.

With that said - LCD SS was awesome Tuesday night. Upstairs we had plenty of room - and could drink a lot and get back to our spots with no problem. If T5 always had $4 drinks for a happy hour, thatd be a great change. And being able to see the entire stage with an awesome view was great. Tues night had drummer of TV on the Radio dancing and looked to be hooking up with some redhead, and Aziz Ansari (Parks & Rec). I forgot who else we spotted around us.

And Webster Hall has recently done quite a bit of renovation. Their sound is usually quite great around the soundbooth (at least since the renovations have been done). I do miss the floor feeling like it was going to collapse when everyone was jumping in unison. The feeling was unreal; and the first time I saw LCD SS there, that place felt like a tidal wave.

webster hall sux
and im not the only one who thinks that
wow! since you (and your friends?) said it, it must be official.  feel free to keep going to T5! You must be the one always posting on BV saying how the sound at T5 is so great and its such an awesome venue! All the better - coming from someone who doesnt even live in NYC.

Hopefully you wont be up here for Beady Eye and all the other bands playing Webster Hall since it sux.

yes, i'll gladly go back to T5 if i have to…i don't mind, i'm not a spoiled concertgoer.
Is it true that all attendees of the MSG show are strongly encouraged to wear black, white or a combination of the two?

dunno about "strongly" but yes, LCDSS has asked that people dress in black and/or white.

for those who aren't making the trek: they will be filming the show & pitchfork will be streaming it live on saturday night (more).  there has also been talk of a DVD/BR recording.

speaking of which: "You Were There: The Complete LCD Soundsystem"
http://pitchfork.com/features/articles/7947-you-were-there-the-complete-lcd-soundsystem/
good read, IMO, but obsessively fanboy'ish.
