Thread for special deals/groupons/discounted tickets

not any deals, but decent article on tips

https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/i-ve-been-to-over-200-concerts-and-music-festivals-tickets-aren-t-cheap-but-i-ve-learned-lots-of-ways-to-save-money/ar-AA1p3IK7

This line was truly depressing and it seems like live music is only for JA at this point
However, tickets aren't cheap and have been steadily increasing in price. In fact, according to Pollstar, the average cost of a concert ticket to one of the top 100 tours worldwide in 2024 is over $127 — a 9.4% increase from 2023.

I see about 40 show a year, thankfully I'm not spending $5k just on tickets.  Although when you add in merch/beers…getting close to that
The best way not to overspend on concerts is to not buy alcohol or merch. These are the budget killers.

Unfortunately I love drinking at shows. Probably shows are an excuse I have used for decades - subconsciously- to drink. Like many people I prefer to see it as “partying”.

These days I go to far fewer shows a year than I used to….15 absolutely tops… and I almost never buy merch unless am trying to help out a band I love like Luna or GBV.

Trying to think what shows I have seen this year….GBV, Hives, Black Crowes, Belle and Sebastian, Ride/Charlatans, Feelies…I guess I bought merch…Charlatans and Ride shirts, GBV lp, Feelies lp. I have backed out of a few shows like Jane’s/L and R. It was just insane to think I could drive to Portsmouth

Oh I saw Neville Street Groove and Cake too. And my friends band OBL

I got my eye on Lemonheads, YLT, Massive Attack, Robyn Hitchcock and Nick Lowe…. I have a ticket for Air and Suki.

That would be 16 shows which like I said tends to be my max these days. I wish I could do more.

Marcos Valle at Howard is also appealing

I think there is a Bare singed version at casa hutch I need to pick up

You also work at a music venue and probably catch another 20 or so concerts a year, I know it's not the same, but it's better than being outside

And a Mike Watt signed 45 sleeve…the 45 has disappeared!

True…but yeah it’s not at all the same…Sometimes something breaks through…Justice was my favorite
So going to hype up millions of records again cause I do think they have some good deals. I think with this order am done though but you can see some examples of the stuff they have. All new records

On November 18, 2023, the band announced they had reunited via social media, with Bays, Hawley, DeCaro and Bossley consisting as the line-up. Their return single, "Shock Me" was released Dec 1. 2023. On January 26, 2024, however, the band announced via social media that their reunion had come to an abrupt end just before the new year due to Bays feeling "he could not participate."

This store in its former incarnation was called ebreggae and was all about reggae. My understanding is Ernie and his partner brother had a falling out or went bankrupt and Ernie started this new store.

They are the best for reggae and bootlegs. And clearly they are getting rid of overstock/cut outs for suppliers and have special arrangements with some labels

OK my fellow boardies and highly respected show-goers. I'm in a quandry and I need your expert advice.  I have a $50 Live Nation Credit that's about to expire, but I can only use it on certain shows. I need help deciding. Among the shows I'd consider going to (with $50 off face value) are:

Wardruna
Elvis Costello
The Sound of Animals Fighting
Steven Wilson
Mana'
Trevor Noah
Yes
Hasan Manaj / Ronnie Chieng
Cannibal Corpse
Lamp
Steve Hackett
Boris
Iliza
Bill Murray & Bros
GWAR
Steve Martin / Martin Short

TIA!
my top pick would be sounds of animals fighting… otherwise: elvis, boris or any of the comedy options - pick per your preference.
some good options musically and comedically
I'd have to put these in a hat and go with what ever I picked

Elvis Costello
Trevor Noah
Hasan Manaj / Ronnie Chieng
Lamp
GWAR
Steve Martin / Martin Short

on the interesting front was sweets pick: The Sound of Animals Fighting
although it was hard to find videos until I put the word Band
Yeah I am in the mood for Elvis Costello lately….
