Carter got huge in England and I think they felt that the success was a bit too much for them. I actually stayed with Fruitbat in London once at his flat in Brixton. They're really the nicest people you could ever meet. I think that in the end they were just 2 regular guys that wanted to make the kind of music they wanted. They played their very final reunion gig in November of last year. I wanted to go…they were one of my absolute favorite bands to see live. I saw them in 1993 and it was just fantastic. Still unlike anything I've seen. 2 guys with guitars and strobe lights shouldn't sound exciting on paper, but they had so much energy and were great performers.

Technically, this compilation was released in 1992 but all three EPs were releases in 1991 and I think it's their best music and forms a superb LP. Really deserves to be mentioned.

I know this will bring some laughs, but a total guilty pleasure of 1991 is still "Schubert Dip" by EMF. Aside from the smash hit, the rest of it is actually pretty fun raver pop that makes me think of summertime. As does this.
