where's a safe hotel to stay?

There's a ton of "safe" hotels to stay at in DC. The question is how close do you want to be to the stadium?

there are no hotels near rfk. . .just find a hotel near a metro stop and you'll be fine.

Hi I am also looking for a place to stay in the $40-$60 range. Close to the 9:30 Club. Can anyone help out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You do realize that DC tourist season is in full swing, right? The only way you'll find something in that range is if you use Priceline.com or you're staying at a hostel.

don't think there are many hotels near 930 either. . at least none that i remember driving past. probably won't find many hotels in that price range in d.c. anyway, and if you do, they probably aren't in the most desirable of neighborhoods. . .if price is a big thing, find a hotel in virginia near a metro stop or perhaps even in upper northwest. priceline and hotwire can hook you up with some deals though.

There's a couple of flea-pits on GA ave up near Walter Reed that I bet are cheap as hell, but to be honest, I'd rather spend the night in a bus shelter.

I agree wholeheartedly….you don't want to stay on NY Ave…find a hotel close to a metro. You could try the Days Inn on Connecticut Ave near Van Ness, but VA may end up being your best bet.

Just make sure you have enough cash if you plan on taking a cab back to the hotel vs. driving to/from the club.

No, it's more that it's out in the middle of nowhere, not where there are metros or probably even cabs. Sure you can drive back & forth to RFK, but if you're gonna do that, you can stay anywhere anyway. The point of staying close was for easy RFK access – how do you get to RFK from out NY Ave?

bladensburg rd. its like 2 seconds away. really. i used to stay there every year. sure we drove. but it was really easy for everyone to come back and party there, plus it was on the way so we could check in on the way there.

but i am sure NW is cooler anyway.

thats exactly where the artists stay. well, they used to anyway. i am sure its like 300 a room. we saw beck at that hotel a few years back, right in the elevator!

LOLOLOL. This is so true! The part about Baltimore. And a lot of them aren't as friendly in Baltimore as they are in DC. There's a lot of hatred and aggression in Baltimore. A lot more racism too, and it goes all ways. Very sad, but true.

I agree that the Ramada and the other hotels on NY are probably the closest (that I know of) to RFK. However, I don't know if I'd want to stay in one of those alone being a female. Wouldn't mind so much with other people or as a male. It's just sketchy enough of an area to warrant a little caution. Although, odds are, the worst thing that would probably happen is that I'd probably be propostioned a lot.

I use to love watching the hookers up and down NY Ave and their wild outfits but I haven't seen that many in a good while. The Vice squad must have sort of cleaned up the area.

BTW, there are plenty of cabs there. Tons of them!

Your best bet is to find someone to share the room with who can off-set your expenses. I would count on at least a good hundred for a room anywhere nowadays.

ha, from there, the easiest way to get to rfk is by cab. otherwise, you're walking a few miles to rfk, or walking to capitol south for the blue/orange line (20 minute walk or so).
