Also so people don’t start burning and looting
Plans for your socialist check?

Just missed the household cutoff for getting one, but as long as we both get to keep our jobs, not at all outraged.
Correction: Will be getting some stimulus money, so won't be looting and burning.
Not sure that I'll be spending it all though. My daughter can no longer nag my wife into taking her on Saturday shopping sprees, and I'm likely to drink down my beer supply rather than go shopping for more.
Now we have details…
Direct payments: Americans will receive a one-time direct deposit of up to $1,200, and married couples will get $2,400, plus an additional $500 per child. The payments will be available for incomes up to $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 for married couples. This is true even for those who have no income, as well as those whose income comes entirely from non-taxable, means-tested benefit programs, such as Social Security.
Obviously some of the means-tested stuff is not in here
So since most of you live in the DMV and top these caps…likely getting very little
But you likely have a mortgage?
The bill would allow homeowners with federally backed mortgage loans to request loan forbearance—that is, delayed payment—for an initial period of 180 days, and that forbearance could be extended for another 180-day period if necessary.
Although, technically this is not a 'deal' at all, just pushes out payments without penatiles, but you still cover the interest crrued durring that time…Meaning, overtime you spent more money to get that 6 month break. But six months of not paying your mortgage would likely help people create a nice nest egg/saftey net or pay down other high interest loans
Hopefully not create a rush to by a new Harley or SeeDoo

So delayed payments, not skipped payments. So you can skip this month and pay double next month with interest? Sounds like a trap.
interest continues to accrue during forbearance, putting payments on ice will cause debt to grow rather than diminish
I wouldn't say it's a trap, but should only be used if you can't make the payments, (as in the end you pay more)
not so you can blow the money supporting your favorite TikTok weblebrity

I guess the mortgage payment delays are there to help folks who aren’t eligible for the payout? I guess that’s good.

Check your tax statements. Those numbers are adjusted gross income, which is significantly less than gross salary.
Most people in the DMV make less than those limits…the median household income in Fairfax is 122K, Arlington is 104K, Montgomery is 108K, and DC is 85K. And the adjusted gross would be significantly less.
have you ever even heard of this guy…Rep Thomas Massie KY
potentially jeopardizing passage of $2T stimulus package!
Already has my ire with statements like this
Thomas Massie @RepThomasMassie
Universal vote by mail would be the end of our republic as we know it.

Massie's stunt also caught the eye of Donald Trump, who said Massie should be expelled from the GOP for his move.
Massie, for his part, has been downplaying COVID-19 and calling out the social distancing measures put in place to stop its spread…
"The greater harm to society is the public’s unquestioning acceptance of the unchecked authority of governments to force private behavior and disrupt economies," Massie tweeted on March 16, as the virus was starting to grow in the United States. "When this is over, I fear FDR's internment of Japanese-Americans is going to look like a 'light touch.'"
Dude is comparing the stay at home to the internment of Japanese-Americans!

I just don’t see this stupidity in other places on our globe
In Argentina there is a massive stay at home order and everyone is on board..you don’t have voices denying science..or saying let the old all die so my kid can go to school and I don’t have to be around my lame wife working at home..if there is complaining it’s that government officials aren’t doing enough!
It’s making me wonder if I have underestimated the stupidity of the American people? How is that possible?
I mean this shit is embarrassing

How would they know where to direct deposit my stimulus check if we end up paying each year? Would they mail it?
IRS plans tool that will let you track the money
The agency expects to release an online tool on its website by the end of the week that helps people track the status of their stimulus checks.
