Plans for your socialist check?

The bill would distribute up to $1,200 to Americans in the form of a one-time direct deposit, $2,400 for couples, and $3,000 for family of four.

So families of 3…Gov't is saying you should have had more kids
Sadly, pay off debt
Space is going to be outraged
And a family of 6?

What I'd do… is see if you can convince two of your kids to get married to one another
then you could bag $5400!
I think the details are yet unknown really

But depends on income and you get $500 per child

So maybe 4 person fam would be $2400 plus $1000 but depends on income

this is true…details are not availble yet
Palindrome post
Where are your plans Sidehatch? Seems like you should answer your question!

well there is some debt to pay down as well (lot of it at 0%, but would just rather it be gone then looming out there)
Can't really buy concert tickets or make vacation plans
Some money has to go into needed car/home repairs
Kids keep growing so some shoes and clothes too
The Airstream Bathroom needs a makeover

Because it appears there's a (EDIT) $198k/couple limit after which you don't even get a reduced check. But yes, bot income.
However, the payments would start to phase out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of more than $75,000, and those making more than $99,000 would not qualify at all. The thresholds are doubled for couples.

Just missed the household cutoff for getting one, but as long as we both get to keep our jobs, not at all outraged.

Yeah, agreed. I'm in healthcare with zero chance of this impacting anything other than an annual bonus so I can't get bent over this at all. I don't really need it.
This seems kind of unfair to the go-getters who made more money in 2019 and who already filed their taxes:

The phase-out for top earners will be done using 2019 tax returns or 2018 returns if the taxpayer in question hasn’t filed their 2019 taxes yet.

Note: I haven't filed my taxes, so this is not me whining.
Oh, I just realized our adjusted gross income may be below the cutoff. Will have to check.

But anyway, why are they sending Americans cash? Shouldn't it be tied to job loss? Is the point that they just want us to spend more money to try to keep the economy afloat?

yes

Oh, that's interesting especially if they'll use my 2018 figure instead of 2019 if my tax guy hasn't sent it off yet.

I do think this should be a bit more tied to local economies. $200k in Richmond is a significantly different amount of money than $200k in DC which is a significantly different amount of money than $200k in Vansmack Country.
