Had I used this technique, I would have gotten it. There were three possible letters for my last two guesses. If I had used a word with those letters in my fifth guess, I would have eliminated two of them and revealed the correct first letter.

my technique is, look up the answer for the wordle of the day and put it in
I get it in one try every time

(yes I was also the kid who figured out how to physically take his rubix cube a part and put it back perfect)

I can see what tripped you up, because YIKES so many words to choose from and i have used that above technique out of frustration in the past.

This is how this played out for me as well. Had the last 4 letters and 3 possibilities and two guesses left so had to play a word including two of the possible first letters to guarantee victory.
